This isnt a thread to curse the Company or anyone specifically.
But for the last 2 months, why have there been no Maintenances scheduled and completed in the given time frame? Dont you think, as a listed, "professional" company with a paying customer base, it is your responsiblity to deliver what you promise - on time?
There must have been just maybe 1 maintenance that happened as per schedule in last 2 months; Other than that, its either Delayed or Postponed or Cancelled and when it does happen, it lasts for way longer than the given time frame. Why is that...every single week?
Edit: Even if there do happen to be some real hindrances occuring every single week, do you not think its the Company's responsibility to make the playerbase aware of it? How many times has that really happened?

I for one have to call for anyone in charge of this **** to be losing their job. Not saying that is Val, as likely, Val is nothing more than a mouth piece that posts as told...
However, whoever it is in this company that sets these things, needs to go.
Maintenance gets postponed a day, and lists already at least 30 minutes extra...WTF!? Why, what purpose?
To change the name of a quest and update some factions logos? GTFO
Seriously, give us substance in our patches, or don't take our damn servers offline....at least in other games, they know that the CUSTOMER IS RIGHT0 -

Been far more than just two months... Take frankie for example, there were countless times where he was CM where maintenance lasted much longer than normal.0

i agree with kwan. its getting ridiculous all these maintences lasting longer then they say. if you ppl cant get it done in 2 hour then change the maintence time to 3 hour or post atleast an update before the 2 hours are over if its gonna take more time. and same thing bout the patch notes. why does it take so long to change the name of a skill and add some faction logo's ? how about bugs/glitches that need to be fixed ? like the "magic shell" and "aegis spirit" lasting time bug its been around for so many years and it has also been reported loads of time yet is its never fixed. guess changing a skill name is more important then fixing something thats broken for years.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

In todays QQ thread: Clueless playerbase that has no idea what maintenance means and will panic if it lasts a bit longer than said time.
Fact remains, they are free to do maintenance whenever they see fit, they are the owners of this game, not the playerbase.
Sure, listening to the players would be a good thing, but that's been known for a long time that that barely ever happens anyway.
Get over it, go do something for half an hour longer with your real life instead of going nuts that you can't see your pixels for just a bit longer.
It has happened before, it will happen again. I don't see the problem in it, if a game is starting to become this important to someone, then I suggest seeing a specialist.0 -
Don't blame CM for maintenance duration, he has nothing to do with that. And he can't give us any info about that if he doesn't get any info from people who are actually doing maintenance.
They probably don't have direct physical access to server, so they do it over remote control and that's kinda slower. It takes time to shut down server, make new backup in case something is wrong, apply patch, turn on server again, check if it works, push update to users and then make server live for everyone. And then repeat that for all servers.
Well, not sure if they do all that stuff, but that's kinda how maintenance works.0 -

The drop in stock prices and revenue is their fault, and its largely because people know they don't care about their player base.
Video Games, especially online ones, remain a customer service industry. If you don't make your customers happy, you don't get paid. PW took the approach of making a few well paying customers happy at the cost of losing a large percentage of their casual player base. They are now paying for it. I myself refuse to play another game with the PWE logo, ever, because I know in the end they will likely end up as big a mess as PWI, Jade Dynasty, and Forsaken World are now.
Throw in the fact that they recently bought a few expensive, but failing, IP's on top of that such as Star Treck online and to a lesser extent Neverwinter, and you have a hurricane of a formula for bankruptcy just waiting to happen.
In the end I do actually hope it works out for them. If they can turn their shady business practices around, save their current IP's, and, eventually, regain the trust of the player base, they could become a gaming company to rival EA and Blizzard. As it stands now though I wouldn't be surprised if their employees are getting their resume's in order.

It's maintenance.
It's applying (and hopefully testing) a patch made by another source.
Sometimes its longer, sometimes its shorter. Nothing is perfect, there will always be variance.
You're not living in reality if you're QQing over this. Go play another game - the Maints that PWI does is by far, stellar performance compared to nearly every other MMO out there. Its not about maintenances taking a bit longer.
Its about maintenances taking way longer than the given "fixed period" every single god.damn week. Its not today's problem - its there (or in here) for MONTHs.
Its about giving customer service when you have a paying clientele; you are bound to give an explaination or atleast a short notice in cases of delay.

It will always happen.
Although applying patches seems to us like something easy, i bet it is not.
Prolly things go down with the server when running the patch, prolly applying it last longer than expected.
We do not really know, but that is the work of the staff in charge of deploying/applying the patches. To do their thing without us being involved.
Obviously if all this things/mistakes/random **** gets translated in us having to wait then...
So what?
We are not going to die from it. Besides, they are doing their job
(I do not wish to go about How good or bad)
But they do.
So stop worrying about it.
PS: I do not encourage PW staff to get lazy. Just trying to have some understanding of their specific circumstances. However i do encourage them to Do their best effort for us.

That isnt a sign of a professional company. Noone is worrying about maintenances taking longer. I'd like to know WHY they are taking longer. And/or WHY they are getting delayed by a day or two; or WHY they get postponed randomly.
Again, it is not exactly about getting impatient over a longer maintenance.
If anyone else bothers to reply to this thread, I'd like to redirect you guys to Sheswes & Kiszmet's posts in this thread. They summed it up pretty much.

Do you guys realize that our (PWE's) dev team isn't able to touch the files on the server?
It's pretty likely that the software updates to the servers are done remotely from Wanmei in China.
Also, as stated before, our CM/GM's really have nothing to do with it. All they do is provide us with information that is given to them via the tight-lipped Chinese. Hell, most of the time all they know about the patches is what is posted in the patch notes. (Because that is all the information China gives them.)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
