NW unequiping gear upon entering.. exploit or not???

I know the thread derailed a bit...
There are a few interesting ideas being suggested here but unfortunately I don't see them working out.

We all know how cheap Wanmei (I assume they are the head who controls the development team) is so they wouldn't go as far as making something very complex, although I have to admit NW itself and its system is rather complex considering it took us quite some time to discover how it works and that's not even fully cracked yet. I just can't see them bothering with it any further besides updates that are really needed (such as the map change which is already in motion).

They do give buffs for lower levels to give them a chance to compete and that's nice but I don't think they'd go as far as adding special gear for this event (which would be quite nice) or making several NW instances based on the level range. The latter, quite frankly, wouldn't work at all considering that the majority of the players who participate in NW are already lvl100 or above unless they would specifically use their alts to participate which is something I highly doubt it will happen for many. That would leave the lower levels with very little competition.

Isn't the point of doing NW to get tokens to upgrade your gear? If you can't use the upgraded gear in NW, then where can you use it? I'm not willing to downgrage my R92, soon to be R93, cuz some people feel under powered and say we should all have the same gear. The point in me doing NW was to get the matts to 2nd cast. I would stop doing NW if that would even happen. I seriously doubt they would even consider doing that, but just saying.

We all know that the reason R9 has been on sale so cheap, is to give the opportunity to those that couldn't afford to get it in the past. Pitting under powered people against OP people is PWI's way of saying, maybe you should think about getting R9 or use the matts that you get from NW on some better gear. There's a reason for everything PWI does. These instances, sales, gear upgrades, and so on, are all thought up years in advanced. This is not something they came up with months ago. It's all purposely planned out in the way that it is for a reason.

PWI is trying to get people to spend more money on the game. Throw a fun instance with under powered people against OP's = get it together and spend some money on R9 so you can hold your own = don't complain when you get your azz kicked, do something about it.

Your suggestion still does not fully solve anything regarding BMs. What if your a BM with both a Tank set and a APS set? If you enter NW with your tank set for example there would be no need for you to even use your claws in the first place.

The whole gear locking idea in my honest opinion is not even a good one as it indirectly creates more problems while only fixing one(ASSUMING that this is even what is happening). It would be much simpler just to change the NW entry to be based on a different criteria rather than Soul Force.But without going into it to much, Soul Force is a decent way of judging NW entry from a Devs perspective do to the fact it Soul Force is highly dependent on the gear of the player. To say it is the best method, I would not agree.


Again my post is only assuming that this theory that was raised is even accurate.


Also, I don't believe PW would make it so NW gives everyone the same set of gear to compete. Keep in mind this is a company designed to make money. Having OP players vs under geared players will slowly nudge at the weaker to hopefully SPEND and gear up. I fully believe giving everyone the same gear for NW would defeat the purpose this instance was really designed to do.

Here's the funny thing. All the people that are liking the idea of everyone getting the same gear, is eventually going to have better gear than what they would give you. then what? Complain that you want to use the gear you made. I already made mine. Give people an option, not force them to wear it. I know it's just an idea and it's not gonna happen, but for those that love the gear they made, are probably passionate about keeping it on in NW.

I can't believe this thread is still going.

It doesn't affect what nation you get into with any noticeable difference - I've tried it and so have many others. Zero difference into a nation - and asty isn't even convinced its a soulforce thing.

And the gear locking thing is dumb. Theres so many people who switch lots of gear. Weapons/full armor sets on BMs, APS Barbs that switch, Casters switch into -chan gear, people switch blessings, R8r def level weapons vs attack weapons, purge weapon switch outs.

Really if you aren't utilizing gear switching you're potentially missing some good PK tactics.

As far as I know (and I never did this or heard of this before), the way NW auto-places /auto-balances nations is soulforce-based... if i were to simply take off my weapon... I would have half or less of my soulforce. So although this must effect the auto-placement system... I am not certain this would have that dramatic an impact on the overall placement... unless you have full squads of +12 weapon-geareds doing this and actually beginning to re-quip at least a few minutes after placements were completed... this could have a dramatic impact after the first battle or two took place and those people then re-equipped and started rolling over other nations' territories... It could give the nation they landed in a significant advantage this way. Unless everyone starts doing the same thing? lol... yep, R9 squads being allowed up front have ABSOLUTELY ZERO IMPACT on NW. Unless ofc they do THAT. (and R9's wouldnt exploit nothin b:chuckle )

You should cry some more about people with better gear than you.

It would be an exploit or strategy if it truly worked well - we're talking 1000-1200 people [counting afk alts] regularly on my server. If it was a real concern the actual reasonable solution would be to count the refines of all gear in your inventory and equipped. Which would make some classes rather insane given the amount of switch out gear some of us carry.

it would perhaps make it slightly more likely that you get placed, in a nation with higher soulforce people, but there are far too many factors that are unknowable and cant be controlled for for this to be even slightly useful, even if it is the way it works.

Great idea... I am going to spend 1.5k to r9 my char, another 1k to second cast said r9, toss in another 2k to +12, with an additional 2k to jade said gear. All so I can pay for your free faming and use the gear while I am asleep. There are people who doesn't log any meaningful time outside of nation wars.

I think I am at fault for **** up my nation's soulforce. As an archer, I am carrying two +12 and one +10 weapon.

2 +12 weapons plus the +12's/+11s on my PvP gear (42?k equipped), 2 +5 weapons, 1 +7 weapon (soon to be 2), another 5 armor pieces at +10, 1 armor piece at +5...if my R9 belt+Ring counted and if shard grades counted good god I think Id out soulforce my whole typical party I group with.

Sucks that my primary weap doubles the damage of my secondary... and my secondary doubles the damage of my tertiary. All because nub bms like to disable r9s... once in a while someone would live long enough to actually succeed.

Gear lock would really **** some BM's, mine included.

I carry 2 sets of armor, including LA pants, boots, wrists, and hat, HA pants, boots, and wrists, 2 axes, 2 fists, 3 poles, and a sword.

You lock my gear on entry and I'm stuck in one set or the other, with a weapon that isn't exactly useful 100% of the time (I have +10 fists, but no +10 axes, purge pole, etc), and tell me it's fair.

A lot of people quit their BM's when CC was removed, I never learned how to play by glitching skills like that, but this kind of nerf would really cause a lot of BM's to quit.

Look, I said it before. Unless you're R9+10, or +10 everything anyway, you will only lose a very small amount of Soulforce by removing your gear. If you're level 100+, even naked, you will have 15,000+ soulforce. My Archer in all +10 armor and +6 bow has 18,000 soulforce, with +10 fists, I only get to 23,000 soulforce. This entire idea of going naked into NW is lame and pointless.

I did this last Sunday, and got into the last place nation.

I got the highest score I ever have gotten in NW, but it was still the last place nation.

It sounds to me now as if this ist just another *rumor* and nothing more. People claiming doing this got them in winning, losing, and in between nations so as it stands, it is just pure luck and nothing else. This doesn't actually do much for you. Same way the "refining at right time, right place, right elder" start. Some people just get super lucky, others not.
