I think you're being a little generous. Seeing as r9 itself costs several hundred in gst and medals, why would they put summerwinds for a negligible $100? Not to mention it would drastically lower the demand on the nirvana market since r9r for wep alone costs 1200 raps and 4800 uncannies. If you want a cheap solution r8r is much more affordable.

The current value of a Summerwind Token on my server is equivalent to about 500 gold. I wouldn't mind them cutting that down to like 250 or so.

If this happened R9 had best become the new R8 in terms of price. Otherwise it'll turn into the same situation as early days of R9. At least if they lower the price of the base set while selling summerwinds, others will have some chance..... once the gold market stabilizes anyway.

It's a bit too early to have mass amounts of people with R9 3rd cast.

+11/12 orbs would kind of even the playing field though. IMO going from R9+10 to R9+12 is almost as big a boost as going from R9 to R9 3rd cast (except for the purify proc) so it would actually give the relatively large # of R9 +10's a fighting chance vs R9 3rd casts people (who are generally rich enough to have +12 gear automatically)

It makes sense too, since you can have people spend a fortune on +11/12'ing their gear, then make them spend a fortune again when they have to transfer those +11/12's to R9 3rd cast when/if it becomes cheaper and more widely available.

Best customer gouging = sell +11/12 orbs, wait a really long time so ppl grow impatient and end up using the +11/12 orbs, then release cheap 3rd cast to make them buy chienkuns. After everyone has bought chienkuns and transferred, release +11/12 orbs for a short time again so the new wave of R9's can +12, then repeat 3rd cast sale etcetc forever till game bleeds dry.

I don't know if any1 has gone against a r9 3rd cast player, but it makes my full r9 +10/11/12 gear feel like the comparison of r9 +5 gear vs r9 +10, or tt99 +5 vs r8 +10
The more ppl that get r9 3rd, the less hope there is for the hundreds of r9 geared ppl and makes the G16/G15/r8 geared ppl practically insignificant.

That being said, if there was more r9 3rd cast players to come up against the few who already have it or are realistically on their way to getting it, it would level the playing field massively. So easier accessible Summerwind tokens could almost help balance things out.

Atm, if a TW faction has even 1 r9 3rd caster player, its like adding 20 more ppl to the TW instance xD

I don't need r8,I been r9 since it came out for mystics.R9 isn't that hard to get or farm.But to recast is like to farm r9 for 8 chars!! 8!!b:shockedb:faint Were not money making machines,and do not have a life time to waist on this game b:cry I just want to play with my recast r9 gearzio b:cry

Comparing it to the likes of rank9+5-r9+10 difference is pretty stupid. A more realistic comparison would be a boy with a toy hammer vs chuck norris. If more cash shoppers get rank 9'3 then this game will die rather quickly for the free to play player. No way in hell are they going to be able to keep up with them, I struggle with r9+10 players killing me let alone these rank9'3 people. Unless they are so cheap that they are possible for us free players this game will lose ALOT of people.

Why would anyone pay 50 dollars for dragon orb ocean when you can buy a brand new game for nearly that amount. The same applied to summerwind token would be, why would anyone pay so much for 1 piece of armor upgrade when you can buy a new game with the same amount of cash. b:cute

That was only around for 1 day. Then they quickly realized it was a mistake. But you have to look at it this way. For all those who already got rank 9 but not able or not willing to go for second cast, there isn't much to keep them staying around unless things are available a little more reasonable. They have to retain the player base to the best of their ability.

Yes, alot of people want to be the best of the best and compete with the best of the best... however the argument that without Summerwind tokens being on sale somehow deprives the R9 from being recast keeps them from being competitive falls on deaf ears to the vast vast vast majority of the player base on every server.

We would all like to attain that level, but at this point if you want to CS it, the private server isn`t any one of the servers on offer here.

100 is still the soft level cap, some mix of R8 is still the norm thanks the the last 18 months of sales and to offer an item like that would gulf the distance between what exists now to such a vast degree it would make this panda sick.

Yes, you can cash R8, R9, +10 etc etc etc... but to make the ultimate top tear available so quickly after its introduction would be a mistake.

Yeah, until Rank 10 comes out and everyone with R9 3rd cast gets owned by them, then the cycle continues.

I can see it happening, along with like an 80% cut on the price of R9 (or BH starts handing out 1k chip packs at a time or whatever) and like 200 gold per summerwind.

When R9 got introduced, it was about as realistic as a warsoul weapon. R8 was about what R9 is now.

Then came the sales, and R9 became somewhat attainable and R8 became average.

Wouldn't be surprised if someday R9 became as average as R8 is now, with R9 4th cast or R10 being the next thing that costs like $10k.

The sad thing is, that puts NV and G16 down to TT90/TT99 status, rofl. And TT90/TT99 to NPC gear status.

Yep, and it goes allllll the way back to when TT90 was considered epic and endgamey, then TT99 became feasible, then R8 etc etc.

Buying the latest OP gear in PWI is about as wise an investment as electronics, it will last you about a year or two until the next big thing comes out and makes the predecessor outdated and eventually worthless.

Good analogy lol, lots of truth here. When I first started PWI I had a gaming rig of 4GB ram, a simple duo core processor, and a radeon HD 2600 and that was considered epic. Now 4 years later, I have 8GB ram, an i7 2nd gen processor, and a 2gb gtx 580 and that's considered average. b:sad

Everything just gets bumped down a notch, my old gaming rig is probably considered the average home computer for surfing the net now.

At least there is some sense in people asking manufacturers to invent better hardware.

People whining at a hosting company to sell the next big thing that they can buy just for it to become the norm a year or two later seems a little off to me. I mean, what's wrong with current equipment, anyway? You'll just come out at this exact same situation once again in 2 years, only with your wallet about $2000 lighter.

Edit: and let's not forget the farmers, of course. I bet they'll just love seeing all their efforts slowly flowing down the drain.
