    Waiwha? Like cheating on an ingame spouse with another ingame spouse (though in MMOs harem situations tend to be fairly common among good friends) or like cheating on a real partner with someone in a game?

    I think he meant unfair gain of in game items.

    That and more along the lines of what defines cheating in a video game. Are walkthroughs and even friends helping considered cheating? Is cheating in a single player game different from an mmo and so on.

    For walkthroughs, I'd say it depends on how the execution works. For something like Bejweled, for example, a walkthrough of the puzzle mode would be cheating as execution is simple enough that having all the answer is just defeating the purpose. On the other hand, a walkthrough of Soul Calibur would be fine as you'd still have to deal with execution of the battles you'd need to win to proceed... and ll the tips and info in the world won't help you if you're simply unable to pull off the appropriate combo or the like.

    When it comes to things like friends, nope. Taking turns or the like is simply another way to enjoy the game. Plus stuff like co-op modes exist purely to allow your friend to help you... and while use of cheats and exploits in single player games is fine and good, the instant you cross over to any form of competitive realm (be it a speedrun against others or a MMO), there need to be per-defined rules setup.
