Sorry about that, I seem to be having trouble letting go of the past. b:cry0 -
im not a tv person only watch it 30min a day when my soapie is on. As for books, it has to be a horror book for me to read itlalalala Pokemon

Have to say, I like the new idea of doing the maintenance announcement in a global post.
And books all the way. Eragon is a perfect example of the travesty that Hollywood can make out of a great book.b:surrender
Kritty that is so true. The movie doesn't come close to the book.
I think the same may happen to Rangers Apprentice when they make that into a movie.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Karma will get you when you least expect it. What goes around comes around.

Do you prefer reading books or watching movies?
Books over movies. I like using my imagination. Plus there's hardly anything good these days anyway.

I'd say both... I like movies cause you can actualy watch something and you get a clear picture of how everything looks... Also it takes less time to go through the entire story... And if one wishes it they can even edit fun stuff with it... Books on the other hand have more depth and explain things better in detail... And are more usefull when you actualy try to kill a lot of time... Only downside is that it's harder to download a book and the library fee here is way too expensive... So yeah for me it's both...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I mix it up, books and movies. Unfortunately with the 'little ones' running around I seem to be watching nothing but kids animated movies lately - for eg. I'm going to the movies to watch TinTin, Chipwrecked and Puss in boots in the near future and two nights ago I watched the Smurfs.....
With books I read a range. Lately Ive read all of Robin Hobbs and Jim Butchers, they are fantasy based. Interestingly Jim Butcher credits some gaming group for help in getting his 'furies' serious finished. His 'Dresden' series is very easy to read.
Ive read a fair few Stephen Kings and all the usual political thrillers by John Grisham, plus a variety of others as the mood takes me - like Terry Prachettt for eg - Ive read all of his.
Still most of my downtime is used up playing PWI, so Frankie have a look at all those suggestions in the thread about what we want for 2012 - theres some good ideas in there....
EDIT - just thinking about how people say the book is better than the movie - best example of this I ever saw was the old one 'The Running Man" with Arnold Swarzenegger. Man that movie was such garbage. The book and movie were totally separate and I can't believe Stephen King let that movie be made with that title. If anyone gets a chance to read The Running Man its a great read about futuristic problems in society and nothing at all like the movie.0 -

It's the standard 10MB "Minor localization changes."
After you patch you won't be able to login again until after maintenance.

lol i've played those, it gets annoying after a bit because to find out who is around you keep having to type in the "look" command (or any other command the game uses) xDNothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

Mostly I like books expecially when it comes to fantasy genre. Think the only series that the movies didnt disappoint me was Harry Potter.....the Eragon movie was just horrid to the point I wanted to cry.
PS: Frankie when shall I be obtaining my new user title? I dont know what page your on atmIf I sound like I hate you, please don't take it personally...chances are I actually do.0 -

I think you had to get in while the getting was good. Frankie isn't very good at paying attention to more than a couple pages of a thread. b:surrender[sigpic][/sigpic]

Books ftw, aside from having more detail, they work when the power's out.
I wonder if we'll have celestial tiger event still or if something will replace it?
That was for the "Year of the Tiger"... aren't Chinese years like, alot longer than others?

Books because when I'm sick of housework and everything else I can disappear in them for a moment until reality comes home at 3.30. But I like movies too, when I can enjoy them with my family. b:pleased0

Chinese ''years'' indeed alternate between roughly 20 days longer or shorter than a normal year.
The new Chinese year starts on Jan 23rd which will be the year of the Dragon and we are now in the year of the Rabbit, so I doubt they care that much about the Celestial Tiger event being slightly out of place b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I think it really depends on the movie as far as books > movie. I've read and seen Forrest Gump, and I prefer the movie for example. I've heard that the book that inspired The Godfather wasn't anything to write home about either. And this might be considered blasphemy in some circles, but I can't choose between the Lord of the Rings films and the book themselves.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Aha I see! Thanks Nowitsawn, I thought they were years longer. b:chuckle
Celestial Rabbits event starts in 20 minutes. To participate, speak to a Keeper of the Rabbits!

Books! My imagination goes loose then and i love the fact that when i read i don't see the letters but i see it as a movie in front of me.0

Books , books and boooooooooooks0

I'll always chose a book over a movie any day.
Movies are limited by time and content regulations. certain rules have to be followed for movies and some things just aren't possible in movies.
Books on the other hand are more like guided imagination sessions. the details are provided for you but you own thoughts flavor the world.0 -

the writer himself screwed last book, maybe hes watching too many movies? b:laugh
but yeah, books all the way
best adaptation i have seen so far is A song of Ice and Fire, but HBO seems to like making sex scenes too much, sometimes i wonder if they are going into new kinds of movies b:dirty0 -
