More crashes recently?

Im getting a crapton of crashes recently not just when I teleport but also when im just running/flying around. Ive ran client verify just in case but with no luck. Before I never used to crash, now im kinda wary of even moving sometimes. Has anyone else been getting a load of crashes ever since november? :x I think it started about 2-3 updates ago

idk if it happens even when there is no 2x (i don't need to go there than) but after it when i teleport to city of ragin tides the client crashes 90% of the times

I've had this happening for a while. PWI doesn't believe there's an issue and keeps telling me that not enough people submit tickets on it.

Submit a ticket. Don't listen when they try to blame your hardware. I have an optimally tweaked setting and have troubleshooted the issue a hundred different ways. PWI just keeps rolling around in circles telling me its a driver I updated or some **** like that.

I'm not experiencing multiiple crashes. Had only one happen and the game only froze up and hung when I was out in the middle of nowhere. Had nothing to do with teleporting or anything. Figure it was just my crappy laptop I was using at the time.

I just shut it down because the game became unresponsive.

Both my friend in England and I have been having lag/disconnect/crashing issues. I have also noticed a lot of glitches. I have verified the client, as well as made sure ALL my drivers are up to date. I dount it is my laptop, where as I am running a Intel CORE i7 processor with 6G DDR3 RAM and a GForce 525M graphics card.

Other games are not giving me these issues, such as Battlefield 2, 3, and 2142, MW3, and Combat Arms.

What gets annoying is when 3/4 of the players are invisible, and all I see is their names, or they come up as P-1093527 or something like that... It's rediculous! No issues with PWI... Yeah, I think the Devs need to get their eyeballs on the game from home and not look at the game from the server itself. Then maybe they will see the issues a lot of us are having.

I have two patched and current clients, I run only one at a time. Happens on both. Verified both.

My thoughts on it:

We've reached critical mass in number of players the servers/client can handle (crashes in Archo 99% of the time)

The game client code and game server code is so mangled that it's time to re-write it, optomized for large populations of catshops and players.

There needs to be a population control on the servers. 200,000 people connected, and 500 more want to connect? Too bad, those 500 now have to wait until 500 disconnect first. This will mean catshops need to go, AH fees need to go, and account stash needs expanded from 16 to 64 slots.

Whatever happens, make Frankie get on the damn phone with Wanmei and btich at them about this because it's getting stupid.

Your right about the Crit mass issue... but a LOT of players buy from the catshops (myself included) and would hate to see them go.

Maybe they could increase the amount of room for clients, then set caps on the number of catshops per territory. Make people spread the shops out more so that certain areas are not so overloaded. I am sure that they could come up with some sort of in game catshop listing so you could check out where the catshops are and what they have, which would make it much easier to find what you need, and allow for less load on the servers.

Yeah... but it would be nice to have it run nicer. I swear the servers are running WinME or NT. I wonder if it's a software conflict? Maybe the coding does not like Win7HPx64...

It's only you. I don't see any changes and I'm on all the time. b:laugh

I believe it has something to do with the PC being used. I can't say for certain, but discussing with friends it seems that people using higher end machines are more prone to the game crashing randomly while porting/afk'ing.

Again, only a small observation on my end. I personally hope that the PWCN update with Direct X remedies this client crashing issue.

This would be a coding issue I am guessing. I refuse to go back to a Celeron processor with intergrated graphics!

That and I paid almost $1600 for this machine... I am NOT getting rid of it anytime soon

I've an almost identical set up. Reducing the overall "effects" slider on the system menu reduces the likelihood of client crashes for me, but is somewhat annoying to be forced to resort to this often.

TW is the worse though I think, with 80v80 players. Effects, even on minimal settings, start to look like square polygons surrounding characters. Normally when this happens I can expect my client to crash soon.

I've seen my game being really laggy... even in Lost City! This happened a few days ago, after a new update after maintenance. The game even lags doing quests where there's nobody else around... It happens on both my computer and my laptop.

All files are updated and verified.

Also, when I tell my guild I have to reboot game becuz of lagging, others have said their game started lagging as well, so Im thinking it's a server issue.

Huh... I'm using XP on a Dual Core. it's nothing to write home about, other than the fact that it can heat my apartment all on it's own.

Same. Verfied, even re-installed client. Computer is completely up to date with every bit of software, pretty tricked out gaming laptop too. I can run other games perfectly fine.

I cannot teleport to Raging Tide without dc'ing, sometimes with EG city too....Lately, I've been avoiding Arch because I lag tremendously and dc there as well...total client crash.

As I said, other games work perfectly fine...no crash, no lag.

Yeah, I've been having crashes practically every time I walk through a crowded area and teleport to RT/Dreamweaver. My ground usually becomes a single texture and I fall forever (or at least until I log out and back in) or occasionally, I have my entire client crash and an error message comprised of symbols and other random characters appears.

I submitted a ticket and have been going back and forth with the ticket support system for almost a month now. I've verified my game probably 20 times in that month, sent 2 dxdiags and 2 hijack this logs, as well as screenshots of both the error messages and the translucent ground. No legitimate solution yet.

I was experiencing the same thing about 2 weeks ago, everything else ran fine on my computer except for friggin PWI. I uninstalled the game and installed it under a different folder (directly under the C drive instead of being under Program Files).
It solved the lag spike problem, hour long Teleports and crashes.

You guys should:

Check if your internet connections are 100% fine, not just kinda fine(sudden freeze then back to normal is not fine).

Update graphics drivers, sound driver or whatever. EVERYTHING up to date

Got the language packs needed for this chinese game. Maybe a letter the computer can't read would crash it, who knows.


basically make sure your computer is 100% good and set up to run this old game...

It's not really an 'old clunker'.

1) PWI was originally coded to run on P4/AMD Socket 939 arches, as those were prevalent in the day, and everyone had those (or PIIII/Socket A).
2) PWI isn't optimized to run on a Dual core or Dual CPU system.
3) The graphics system in PWI isn't optimized for a dual card, SLI, or crossfire setup.

That aside, I have a Pentium D dual core 3.2 ghz. It's far from a slouch. Socket 775, PCIE 16X, DDR2. Framerates are fine, unless I'm in 80v80 TW or over Archo, and even with best performance mode on, something is causing the client to crash to desktop.

The Socket A system I have is a Clunker. It barely runs. I have it in pieces in a closet. >_> But it, with DDR, was able to run PWI just fine, albiet, with occasional CTD's like are becoming increasingly common now.

I love these threads popping up all the time blaming PW or some **** when 99.9999% of the time it's a hub IN BETWEEN that PW doesnt' control, or the person's pc itself.

Like Koolaid i never d/c or crash either. on my old pc i built in '01 OR my new laptop..... Don't u think if the server was unstable FROM DAY ONE like all u fools seem to imply considering these threads have NEVER stopped...... dont' u think i (or ANYONE i play with) would have by now? The only time this entire year there actuallyl WAS something wrong on PW's end was this spring in the DDOS attack....... Other then that the ONLY thing i've ever seen that's on PW's end is the server just being stupid when i go to swap toons and saying "user doesnt' exist" or w/e, and u have to relog.... big deal.

and FYI.... having all the latest drivers doesnt' mean it's still not a driver causing a problem. I updated the driver for my older vid card once for some reason.... on the desktop i built, and the pc kept **** up after that. I went back to the OLD driver like 6 months older or more... and everything was fine with that....

O ya... and don't get me started on the idiots that think catshops are what causes the lag in arch. ............................................

Correction: It's an MMORPG... This problem is not only on PWI, when there are too many players, there's going to be lags and DCs.
