Squad Etiquette

I'm not whining here, I have just noticed a lot of bad manners in squads so I would like to establish a few general rules to follow although I'm sure none of the worst offenders will ever see this.

1. Before you invite someone to squad with you ask them if they even want to first.

2. If someone rejects your invitation don't QQ to them about it (yes this has happened to me) + Chadric - Heavens Tear says: if somone doesnt' like squading on regular mobs.... dont go KILLSTEALING THEM.

3. If you don't want to chat in squad fine, be polite enough to tell your squad mates this.

4. If squad lead is transferred to you temporarily offer to give it back to the former lead when you're done.

5. Thank everyone in the squad for their help when the task is finished.

6. If you kick someone from the squad tell he/she why and be honest.

These are just what I can think of, comment add a rule or two if you want but I think following these guidelines would be helpful

cheersb:victory

DaKillanator - Raging Tide says: 7. Don't go afk while you're squad leader and your squad is looking for squad mates. + Yanami - Heavens Tear says: don't join a squad if you know you gotta leave soon.

Kaliska-Raging Tide says:8. Don't use bramble (reflect damage skill) on [squishy DDs] unless they're tanking. + Rawrgh - Raging Tide says: If you're a psy, don't use that reflect skill on the tank that burns up their MP, unless asked.

Roseary - Sanctuary says: (9.) "The team only works if you all work together." (maybe be sure squad is ready before attacking boss, and /or discussing tactics)

Mauntille - Heavens Tear says: (10.) Don't micromanage your squad. [be courteous]

Xoria - Sanctuary says: (11.) Make sure teammates are fully awake(present) before starting a (task).

    make sure to add

    7. Don't go afk while you're squad leader and your squad is looking for squad mates.

There is nothing more annoying than spending an hour looking for a barb, then finally finding one, and you can't invite him because the squad leader decided to go eat dinner.
Then the barb finds a diff squad and the search restarts...

Maybe there should be an added rule something along the lines of:
"The team only works if you all work together."

None of that Lone Wolf **** I see a lot of people doing and failing at.

I do my job the best I can just as I think you do the best you can even if you may be scammingish.

    How about:

    8. Don't micromanage your squad.

Suggestions and advise are fine if courteous, but being bossy isn't going to help anyone.

Too true... too true. I remember when I was leveling my sin outside of Arch, some random kept trying to squad me, but I like to solo normal mobs, so I declined and then he proceeded to attack every mob I attacked then followed me all the way to the NPC afterward. I had to log off for half an hour to get him off my tail, but it turned out as soon as I went back to quest, he saw me and started following me again.
Luckily he couldn't KS me because he was a sin with robe armour. o_O So his dmg was really nerfed.
But yeah, that's a good rule to add.

may i use the silence buff that burns ur mp AND makes the mobs run away? D:

11)for the love of god communicate. if someone ask/suggests something respond to him. especially if something goes wrong.

    for example, delta squad, bm,cleric,barb,wiz,me,sin.

before we start i ask the sin "can u lure the boss?" no responce
    w4; no responce...
    w5 the same

idk if it's been stated but i have a suggestion aswell : If you're acting like a "superstar" ranting about your damage or how cool your gear is, you might likely **** up and get kicked. everyone makes mistakes, but when a "superstar" makes mistakes , well that's a second away from the BOOT b:chuckle

I never understand why anyone would be afraid of having bramble on them.

When I`m tanking and we got sin/archer that out DPS me slightly but cant tank the boss, bramble allows me to keep aggro most of the time and if they happen to take aggro for a while, grabbing it back isnt that hard. But if they too are brambled, yeah, simply **** their charm more than needed.

Oh yeah, 1 more thing to what thread was about, dont start QQing about others builds, seen that, never pretty. Even if they fail, just kick em if they fail too bad, dont start some drama over it. I`m too kind, rarely kicking anybody from squad, dealt with 1.43aps fist barb on FC, made me wonder wtf is he doing though, kitty`s wifey(cleric) had more hp than he humanoid.

Edit: And if the squad got more than 1 of some class, make sure the one with highest lvl buff buffs and that you dont overwrite them with your worse ones. It`s such a pain at times doing stuff with the non 10x barbs, always overwriting my lvl 11 buffs.

    This.

Please strike it and replace with "Ask before using controversial buffs." Some squishies like bramble. Some tanks don't mind mana burn. Asking prevents QQ.

I prefer to go solo on normal mobs, and have been given major QQ/insults because I refused to squad, even explaining to them nicely that I like to go solo :)

I guess this falls under communication, but understand what your squad mates skills do, guess that doesnt apply to those who have alts of other classes :p That helps in how you react to different situations that arise in a squad. i.e. the cleric has a healing range, and cannot heal you if you decide to go all gung-ho on mobs on the other side of the instance.

Communication is important. Don't talk in squad chat in a language that you know the others won't understand. I find there is nothing more frustrating in my alts' BHs or FFs when half the squad talks in another language and things often get messy. They also tend to ignore me unless I repeat my question/statement several times, thus bringing up my second point: you may have started a squad with friends, but don't group together and ignore the randoms. Teamwork is the only way things will run smoothly.

Speed is not the object of the game. Yes, we all appreciate a fast run, but make sure you understand the limitations of those around you and be patient. If you don't have time to finish a BH that isn't rushed, don't start one. Nobody likes a barb or DD that rushes into mobs when the cleric is still far behind. Don't pull that boss when someone is only just entering the instance; not everyone has holy path and you don't know that they might not have some problem along the way.

Look at the pop up to see if cleric has already rezd you before you spam "rez me" for ten minutes.

And as others have said, communication is very important.
Nothing like watching the party get wiped while the cleric is recovering mana.

You've actually noticed it being more difficult to regrab aggro off of a brambled DD/cleric?
Every time I see someone steal aggro from a barb the barb uses an aggro skill like flesh ream or alpha male which will cause the mob to stop its mellee anyway.

I don't know if anyone is annoyed as much as I am by a language you don't understand a word of; especially by the people who can speak English but they refuse to.

I was taught (forget by parents or teachers) that you are not supposed to speak a language in a social situation when there is somebody who cannot understand you.

Cleric never takes aggro, dont be silly. And yes, I can see difference with grabbing aggro back when the DD is brambled or not. No, I`m not gonna change back to my polehammer, turn into trueform and flesh ream, I`ll rather keep my claws on. To put it simply, when I get slightly out DD`d by archer/sin(Bms tend to live just fine), that bramble honestly makes the difference. If it`s simply some "lucky" crit chain that picks the aggro, bramble may keep me from getting aggro back. Oh well, happened to me few times, simply irritates me.

Ps. Axe barbs are so yesterday =(.
