Thanos, don't argue with the troll....she's like Yulk, but on Harshlands.
If she actually PLAYED the game and knew how it affected people, maybe she'd know what the hell she's talking about.

Unfortunately, there's not an endgame bone in her body. Don't try and persuade her otherwise.

Just clear the way before her stupidity spreads; I hear it's highly contagious.

Hey, you're making it seem like Yulk = MagicHamsta.

    That's bad.

    Really bad.

    Seriously, really, really bad.

Especially since he was kinda acknowledged in a news post as being amusing.

For me, especially regarding RPGs is that anything you achieve in game, you have to earn it in game.

This I think is quite an important ideal in any game.

In my book, PWI have continually erroded this ideal.

I appreciate that being a free to play MMORPG, certain trade offs should be expected.

Personally, I have no great problem with players being able to level faster using training esotericas, Hyper stones, oracles etc.

If you play PWI, you soon come to understand that although levelling is important, the gear that you have is more so. Thus, you can gain levels fast but would still need to earn your gear to make you a strong character.

I started playing PWI around June 2009 before the first introduction of the Anniversary Packs. If you were around for that, you would know that it caused a big uproar on the forums.

With the Anniversary packs, as the equivalent packs of today do, they give you a chance to get powerful, potentially end game gear. This aspect of the packs, giving a chance of obtaining this gear, was a watershed moment for PWI. Allowing players the chance to obtain powerful gear without earning it via in game means.

These gears that the packs create literally appear from nowhere. Nobody has had to farm X instance to get X materials to make it directly.

In my view, the General Summer's sale is yet another watershed moment, pushing this idea a step further. Here there is no chance at all, it is more or less direct. Pay 72 gold (at most depending on how much reputation you currently have), get Rank 8 gear. If you so chose, could even take it a step further and go for rank 9.

How many steps are we away from having gear directly available in the boutique? Pay X gold, X gear pops into your inventory straight away.

Because PWI is such a gear dependent game, gear afforded via the Boutique rewards whomever has utilised it rather than earning it in game.

In my view this damages the integrity of what a game should be: you earn what you get.

but what if factions and other players dont give you a chance to do that? What if they make it so only they can be the best?

    well said, chilli-kun.
since i feel like trolling a bit, i heard that they will put in the boutique a very certain piece of gear that is also the one i'm most proud of b:avoid

    *stops*

Guard of Thundershock is a very good example of how a cashop balance can be implemented. It's a very long quest chain reward that is comparable to the "cashoped" warsong belt. cashies get warsong, the rest can get guard of thundershock, wizzies scared of delta get oht belts with nice stats.

disclaimer: yes i know that warsong belt can be farmed, but seriously, how many are farmed? xd and when i say farmed i mean going in warsong, gathering the mats, getting the warsoul fragments and making it, not staying in catshop mode and then buying it.

the ideal MMORPG for me would have untradeable items that u could get after completing the task. for example, imagine untradeable TT mats, raptures, uncannies.
only then those flavour texts "represents ur unmatchable honor in the valley of the scared" will actually have a meaning.

well, call me vain, but a part of the achievement is that other people will recognize it and dont say "oh, another lucky pack opener".

Game isn't going to die whatsoever in terms of servers being shut down or people mass quitting or game being unplayable.

It's will die in terms of the fact that it's gonna suck a hell of a lot more that it really should. The game has the potential to be the most amazing F2P mmo out there by a mile. As it is, it's just a huge money making plot. Anything fun is completely excluded if it would lose the company cash, which essentially kills a lot of enjoyment in the game.

You can play "for friends" in any mmo at all, it doesn't mean the game is good.
