Perfect example of people who can't read.

... You can get chips from Tokens as well.

I got my number by using the NPC price for tokens, 9990.

So obtaining Rank 9 isn't "laughably easy". You can't really say that you have Rank 9 if you have none of the gear.
I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.
If you see b:cute be sure to take a second, calm look at anything I said.

Me no. Rank 8 for my main's class is worthless.

But theres a few people that claim to have farmed their rank 8 gear with their friends who got nothing in return.

I'm not sure, you should check that. We're talking about pure rep farming before cash shop rep was introduced via packs, etc - not making lots of coin and getting rep badges.

I rarely believe what people "claim" anymore tbh.

I guess technically you can do it over a long period of time, esp with bh2 giving rep and such now.

omg guys u know u dont have to get it, most ppl dont even think about getting r8 so why all the QQ about r9?

but seriously its fun to see all guys thinking pwi is not fair because u cant get the best gear in 2 mouseclicks

I think there's quite a few that have already obtained R8 actually. Also it's mostly people that never will have a chance to get it complaining how easy it will be for those that can.. technically having rank items in the cash shop makes it easier for every single player in game to get R9, just that those who have money will get it faster.

By farming I mean farming HH or nirvana. Selling your drops and buying tokens to get rep badges.
    There you go. Rank 8.

However, I personally seriously doubt any group of people would help 1 person farm that much rep without asking for something in return.
    Here we go again....

It's a clever and a good idea. See:

    1) Stupid CSers get Rank 9.
    2) They don't realize Rank 9 costs way more than just badges and medals.
    3) They either CS more for full Rank 9 or then are done with Rank 8.

More money for PWI is good when it effectively changes nothing. Of course some people may think this kind of advertisement sucks but as all the items were already in the game, I see no harm here.

That being said.... lets see what new armor the expansion brings that could possibly be equal to the rank 9 from farming...

^ That wouldn't surprise me knowing PWI

" Hey let's get players to spend $ on r9 before the new gear comes out with the expansion "

    or

    * Waits for the r9 archer to get WTFpwned by a lvl 60 OP Mystic *

As a long time gamer there has always been an aspect of gaming that separates gamers on the basis of difficulty. For example difficulty settings such as easy, medium or hard. Good developers know how to make a game hard without comprimising playability or enjoyment.

The problem with most mmos is that in a free to play environment the idea of endgame/hard is to create content that only the most determined of players will go after and eventually achieve. The problem here is that most mmos involve a dynamic based on balance. Once you unsettle the balance you create a world with unsatisfied players.

The next point is that in the instance of PWI (and some other mmos I am very familiar with) this endgame/hard content is not about determination, it borders on insanity. Very soon mmo developers (particularly those using the f2p/cs model) are going to have to rethink their idea of difficulty since it ends up hugely sacrificing playability and enjoyment.

In the interim the choice to make r9 available through the cash shop is a way of making previously overly difficult achievements a bit more achievable. The problem here is though is that:
    1) it is preferential to those with cash shop access
    2) it is preferential to those who have that kind of dispensable income
    3) it once again throws another wrench into the cogwheels of balance (looking at those stats)

I am of the opinion that some of these gears are simply too powerful and need an appropriate nerf. As is there is a huge difference between a +1 and a +12 weapon. Do they seriously need to add on all the atk and defense levels as well? Are the trying to create an in game gm type class as endgame content that completely throws balance out of the window?

I see this as a way of making content more easily accessible to players however the drawback is that once people start to get these achievements balance is screwed.

In the end the onus still lies on the developers to rethink and redeploy a game that can be fun, entertaining, keep the cash shopper happy but still maintain a semblence of balance and competitiveness. For now PWI and many other mmos fail to meet this mark.
