So lock individual posts... Not entire threads... Thats how many other forums do it... And they will even edit some things around so you will never see or know that there was flaming occuring

I think it would be in everybody's best interest to unlock that topic and simply moderate the posts. If there is flame, then delete the offending post(s), but the community is going to need a way to share opinions on the applying mods, period. As much as you want to say "PM frankie," the community still wants to discuss it amongst themselves.

How about we'll allow a discussion as soon as all applications are made? there's a week deadline and that would only be fair if everyone who applied and their applications could be discussed rather than just some of them/edit the topic whenever someone adds their application. I'm all for discussion, and I will gladly moderate the topic to keep it clean.

That seems like a very reasonable and fair decision. Lets allow everyone who dares to apply... before we let the idiotic forum trolls lose at them... we don't want to scare away potentially nice people like we almost did last week, right?

Okay, seriously... its a good idea. Lets wait to discuss applicants till after we know who is actually running. That we way everyone starts on even footing with regard to their application.

I think that would be fair to all the applicants but the problem is that will prolong the process more than it needs to. Let's face it, we're a forum mob, we're never gonna agree on anything as whole.

I think the purpose of a "discussion" topic is more to let people post what they think about the topic of mods in general, not just the applicants. As you know frankie has closed the main thread from stray posts, and I feel that some people just want to vent their feelings somewhere, and if you don't let them do that, it might just end up being becoming a flame war in some other thread.

I understand that, I couldn't agree more. That said, discussion of the applicants should be in a separate topic once everyone have applied.

It was closed due to your comment in regards to flaming the candidates. I even said so in my closing post. No rush there, we will allow a discussion to be made once all candidates applied.

No, we are allowed to close any topic that we see as alarming or that might and is violating the ToS. You made a topic with the intention of flaming users, I closed it. No need to read too much into it, especially since we will allow a discussion once all applications are made.

This sounds more then reasonable to me and I can't imagine why there would be any argument about it.

After the list of potential Mods is listed then the players can state their specific reasons for or against the individual and thus allow the Admin more information when/if she makes the choice.

if your input was wanted, you would've been told it was. we don't need to congregate and discuss every little action the 'man' decides to do in a commitee. if you have questions? pm the mods. its a thread for applications, not discussion, and as far as im concerned we don't need a discussion. just because you have an opinion doesn't mean anyone wants to hear it.
