    You can be polite in one thread, two threads, three threads even in the 10th thread about the same subject.

    But if you encounter at least a dozen of these threads who i suspect are all from a select group of ppl with different chars/accounts, then it gets boring/lame and it'll change the people's opinion about the subject in a negative way just because we get spammed by it 100000000000 times a day.

    There are even people who think we're homophobic because we say "no it isn't going to happen because the chinese culture doesn't allow it blablablablabla etc etc...." .

    About the "if you post it over and over again it'll happen"-theory...lol so if i keep telling you "the world is flat...the world if flat....the world if flat" over and over and over again, you'll buy it? right...

    With all respect, but the only ones giving the **** community (on pwi and in other places) a bad name, are you who start these kind of threads. And i'm not ****/lesb but surely got nothing against anyone who is.

    Bleh it's hard to get bored on the forums when the game has little to offer now.

    And most people, maybe like me, really don't care about the same sex thing because pwi has more important (yea don't take it the wrong way <.<) issues to solve first before even thinking of these small ones.

    Hey, I'm in totall agreement with you. Dispite this being the topic of multiple treads, it's still something that needs to be suggested and covered in as many places as possible. I dont understand why people are so opposed to this idea. Even if thay make it an option in-game it does not mean that you have to parake, or observe people taking advantage of said hypothetical change. If your really that opposed to it, ignore it. I think allowing At least same-sex marriage, would be a step up. This is supposed to be a "Perfect World" no? I mean, I know that there are Wraiths and monsters everywhere, (and this might make me sound like a totall and complete hippie, no offence to the hippies....) but can we focus on eliminating problems like, account theives, and hackers, and gold spammers, and harassment instead of saying that same-sex mariage is a horrid thing and should not be allowed in-game? I play Video Games to get away from that kind of hostility.

    Also, regardless if people 'accept' it in whatever country, its going to happen. Its not a matter of, "Oh, China doesn't except it, so it doesn't happen in real life so there's no reason to consider it whatsoever." No. Not even close. By keeping it as something impossible in a game doesn't change a damn thing. For god's sake we fly on giant fish on this game. Talk about impossible. Now its like they're looking at something that is possible and very much happening (even if not in their own country) and just trying to make themselves believe they can stop it by their creation.. I'm getting too deep to keep my own attention. I hope that made sense. Sorry I'm ranting and a lot of people will probably get mad at me for supporting it, but honestly, I don't care what the Chinese think as far as this goes. Yeah, they can do what they want, but maybe they shouldn't hide behind 'we don't allow it here, so we're not doing it'. Maybe something more like 'we like how our game is now and we don't want to change that'. I could respect that, at least rather than just viewing it like they're being ignorant jerks about the situation. That's just my take on it, anyway. I can respect anyone's opinions, but that's much less an opinion and much more just plain being close-minded toward the entire world considering they're covering a game that's International.

    exactly. the international game should allow **** marriage. just what would be bad about that. if somone can name a problem that would arise by same sex marriage in pwi please inform me

    To be honest, I don't think it would be a wise business move. I think there are many more players that play the game that are opposed to same sex marriage (for whatever reason) than there are those that are indifferent or support it. It would cause quite a stir, and I don't doubt that many people would quit because of it. It would also bring forth many harassment issues, I think. In the long run I think implementing same sex marriage would make the game's environment even less appealing to those that wanted it because of the maturity level of many of the other players here ("Player1 and Player2 are now wife and wife! (well I'm sure the system message would be a little more eloquent than that...)" *20 wcs about how disgusting and wrong it is... 3 "that's hot!"*) and because of the rude whispers they'd undoubtedly receive as they played, which would ultimately lead to even more people quitting.
    Until same sex marriage is universally accepted (not necessarily seen as a good thing, but no longer illegal/taboo/disgusting to a vast amount of people) it would do more harm than good to implement. I'm not saying that implementing it would singlehandedly destroy the game, but it would anger more people than it would please.

    Your point is well taken by me and should be a universal response to this discussion, I think. I honestly couldn't have said it better myself, and while I'm more than all for having the equality of the situation being put into the game, all of your points are valid and very true. There's already enough harassment for everything else that happens in this game, and its true it would cause much more. Unfortunately I have to agree with you at this point. In a sense to pull back what I've said through the rest of this post. I really with more people would come along and respond with intelligence and logic like you just did.     what makes you believe that?

    we have some circumstantial basis to judge such an assumption by, if we look at how this debate is playing out in the real world --- where, overwhelmingly, the younger generations are either supportive or indifferent of the issue, and the major opposition is found in older age groups. and video gamers tend to be younger folks. what makes you think PW gamers in particular buck this trend?

    by that definition of "accepted" (which, IMO, is a rather odd one, but okay) i think we're pretty much already there. the people who do see it as taboo and disgusting are a steadily, if slowly, shrinking minority --- a very loud minority, but still not a "vast amount". and the legal situation is catching up to that; several years behind the curve, as the legal aspect of every social change always tends to be, but nevertheless.

    Maybe it has more to do with the area that I live in and may not be a good representative sample of everywhere else, but I've only come across a handful of younger people (mid teens to early twenties) that are indifferent to same sex marriage and even less that are actually for it. If the threads here on the subject of same sex marriage are any indication of what PWI's playerbase feels about the subject, then I don't think many would respond kindly if same sex marriage were to be put in game, though I do realize that not nearly as many people post here when compared to how many play the game.

    That's true, but I think it would be different in this case. This would genuinely offend some people - not just annoy them (looking at you, chat system).

    I kind of created my own definition because I don't think it's something that will ever be accepted in the sense that everyone's alright with it in the same way that people are with traditional marriage (people may not like that same sex marriage isn't legal everywhere, but I haven't really heard of anyone that's opposed to a man and a woman marrying, to clarify.) Again, it may just be that I probably live in a conservative area and so my experience is skewed (it's sure starting to seem that way based on your replies lol) but it doesn't seem that it's pretty much already accepted. It's only legal in a few states. And I don't know, hundreds of millions of people seems like a vast amount to me, but that's just an assumption... I don't care about this enough to look up any kind of statistics. :x I just feel like there's still a ways to go before the general consensus is that same sex marriage is okay.

    My previous post did make it sound like having same sex marriage in-game would lead to a Perfect World apocalypse, and no, I don't think that's the case. But I do think that it would cause more trouble than it's worth, and that at the end of the day it wouldn't do any favors for PWE.

    So you have two reasonable options when that happens. You can either calmly explain to them that they're breaking rules, or not post at all.
