Hell, people choose to be satanic, devil worshipers all the time. There are a lot of choices that are hazardous but people make them constantly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

actually, no, i really don't think there's much choosing going on there, either. people are attracted to whatever they're attracted to. i couldn't for the life of me just choose to be attracted to something totally different next week --- could you?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

You can very well choose to like something. Take Coffee for example. That is an acquired taste.

When did you choose to be attracted to the opposite sex? Surely such an important event would be one you remember.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I don't know what 5-year-old is sexually attracted to either side of things. If you hear a five year old boy say he wants it in the butt likeliness is he heard it on TV. Most people have awkward teenage years in which they think they might be **** and then they grow out of it. The ones that stayed that way were usually the ones that were traumatized at a young age.
Point is, there is a point in time where you aren't instinctively attracted to either side.

granted, but that doesn't actually answer Dyskrasia's question.
i have some questions of my own: whenever your decision as to your sexual preference was made, can you change it afterwards? could you change it now? and how?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

That doesn't answer the question at all. If you never made it a choice, why do you assume **** people did? If you did make a choice, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been such a flippant moment that you don't remember it now. And you probably didn't make it before hitting puberty, so you can leave the 5 year old examples out of it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

are you seriously comparing sexual preferences to beverage preferences? because if you are, i'll come back and ask you if you frown on tea drinkers as much as on homosexuals --- and if not, why not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

You ever heard of the awkward teenage years?
That's when a lot of kids like to experiment, and think they are **** or **** and then some change their minds and some don't. There's your choice. Some of it also has to do with your upbringing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

are you proposing that these confused teenagers are making a choice about their sexual identity, rather than merely discovering it? if so, why on earth do you think any of them would be stupid enough to choose homosexuality in a society where they damn well know that can get them killed?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

You can make a choice to engage in physical activity, you can't really control whether it's something you truly enjoy or not; I don't think many middle schoolers would know there's a difference.
I also think using middle schoolers as an example is about as bad as using five year olds; that's one of the craziest times during adolescence and I do remember a fair share of people that expressed interest in the same sex to seem cool or edgy or rebellious.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Like I just said in my last reply, their choice is that they engage in the physical activity. However, they do NOT choose if it's something they enjoy or if it does absolutely nothing for them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Again what planet do you live on? Seriously. People choose to be soldiers when they know that can damn well get them killed but does that stop them? No, not really. Probably has a higher chance of killing them than being ****.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So you didn't choose to like the music you like? You instinctively like music based on something that was born in you? People listen to all different genres of music, yet different people are drawn to different types.
This is also not a choice?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Um... no? I didn't wake up one day and say, "Hmm... I think I'm going to start liking Lady Gaga." If I don't like it, I don't like it. I can't force myself to. Just like I can't force myself to be attracted to someone, which is essentially the position you'd put yourself in if you made a choice to be **** or straight.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

okay, what benefit does anyone derive out of homosexuality that would compare to the benefits of being a professional soldier? and let's say you suddenly decided that benefit was worth switching your own sexuality --- HOW the blazes would you go about it? i'm serious about that last question.Kyna - Lost City wrote: »So you didn't choose to like the music you like? the bolded part is the reason i do not think tastes in music constitute a choice. i could not consciously choose to start liking rap music, even if there somehow was some advantage in it for me --- no more than i could choose to like country music.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

I suppose you could still choose whether or not to listen to Lady Gaga, or whether or not to have sex with/be in a relationship with someone of the same sex. You just don't have much say in whether or not it's something you'd want to do.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You choose the things you like and sometimes, the environment in which you were brought up in, and events in your past will alter that choice.
That is all.

i see this interminable thread has kept on rolling, however as this has drifted off topic (onto the nature of what sexuality is) perhaps it's time to drop it.. a gaming forum is hardly the right place and time. or return to the original topic and rinse and repeat your pointless requests.
as has been said many times you are just winding yourselves up for no purpose - china won't change their attitude to this matter, at least not during the lifetime of this game - best to pick your battles better.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
