State of the Game - DQ Price
Comments
-
I'm sure DQ prices could hurt the botter but clearly if its a bot its not exactly taking breaks for rest. At best I can go grinding for 1hr before I get tired of the repitition and go take a rest from the game. So overall it hurts me far more than it hurts a bot.
On another note if the idea is about inflation there is this red message that pops up in wc almost constantly. Something about a perfect token of best luck. Yes that one. Daily I count no less than 20 of those messages (yes I am on quite a bit and at various times but I do rest in between as noted above). 20x5mil/2=50mil (it takes 2 to make 10 mil), 7 days a week = 350mil a week which is roughly 1400 mil a month being dumped into the game.0 -
Agreed, I think the compensation for our DQ price lowering should be the removal of Bank Notes for 2 Best Tokens from the PWI Agent. Either raise it to like 10 Best Tokens per 10 million coins or take the option out all together. Inflation tackled, players happy - they'll still buy packs for their gear, mounts, tomes, etc - so happy company. Problem solved,

Completely agree, but the one of the mods officially stated a while back that the devs have absolutely no intention of removing the 10m note from the PWI agent.20x5mil/2=50mil (it takes 2 to make 10 mil), 7 days a week = 350mil a week which is roughly 1400 mil a month being dumped into the game.
Tokens are roughly 1 in 50 packs. According to your example, for every token, $50 goes to the devs. That's roughly $3500 weekly from packs. Per server. And that's just packs alone.0 -

They're probably squeezing out as much $$$ as possible from naive unconcerned players before they'll actually do some critical bug fixes or address game issues b:laugh

I think that this issue should be addressed, along with some other issues (rubberbanding, for example), but I think your solution is not a very good one. I think your proposed solution is mostly based on envy (which is ok, I guess) and would remove something from the core game.
For example, consider: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/19768
In other words, this would remove a potential significant coin source from boutique-avoiding players.0 -

Oh... my... god... they're actually coming up with something?!!! Let me dream...
... removal of Chests of Coin...
... removal of Tokens of Best Luck (or the option to exchange for Bank Notes)...
... a pledge to add any pack-mounts to the cashshop within a months time...
... graphics updates for human, elf, and untamed skills to math the tideborn...
... fix for the magic shell glitch (it can't be overridden)...
... a reduction of rubberbanding because seriously no one wants to ****-jump that badly...
... give players a choice of which font to use ingame (old or new)...
... more awesome fun events like they've been adding...
... double drops only for the world map NOT instances forever and ever...
... a cash shop item to change your player name...
... advanced makeover scrolls?!...
... birthday presents for players on their birthdays...
... fun fun fun (Black List expansion stones)...
... oh wait...? What?! I got carried away sorry... b:surrender

In response to Frankie's updates on the status of "DQ Price Compensation":
Plain and simple, it's too late Frankie. If your team would have at the very least, had compensation within' the first ~2 weeks, it would have been effective as a way to combat this. Sadly, 4-5 months later (Not even looking at the length since this has happened - just guessing, and I'm pretty sure I'm right!), and talks with the Chinese Development team have just "finished", and now your in the "I hope you guys over in China are okay with this idea, and let us here in the US use it!!" stage...
There is no compensation to counter this. Whatever your planning to push into the game, although might be super awesome, and very generous.. It won't take away the damage that has already been done, as I have stated months ago via this thread, and stated in the original DQ drop thread (I was the creater of the 100+ thread btw). Raising DQ drop-rates, adding new types of items like DQ.. Whatever it is, it will be something "Here and now", and will have no impact on the damage that has already been done in the game's economy.
The players aren't to blame for any of the in-game economy's issues. It's the development team's lack of care. When something is presented as a solution or way to combat the issues, but involves an in-game chance, the GMs ignore it, or react to it by saying they will simply contact the China development team and get back to ya. It's the Chinese development team's lack of care, the USA's GM team's lack of capabilities and the USA's GM team's lack of knowledge on the topics.
The game might be considered "Free to play", which to an extent is pretty true. However, everyone knows that it's free to enjoy the community, graphics, and limited gameplay. The way the game as been messed with, the nerfs, and the lack of care has pushed the in-game players to such extremes where you either have to merchant, buy your level's gear with real-life cash, or power-level with crappy gear until level 100, then farm Nirvana with crappy gear (Got to be hard for low geared players, eh?), and hope that squads accept you time after time, so that you can gain some in-game finances and thus be able to get good enough gear to do what you should have been able to do at that level, with that level's gear.
A solid example, is if you do your dalies, don't merch, and don't spend any coin in-game... You'll be level 100 in 3-4 months, have most skills barely level 5-8 rage, and mold gear w/ no refines/horrible shards. If you are a level 100 with +2, beatiful cits TT90.. Your in good shape nowadays. Sad but true.
/Gameisdead (Not really, however it soon will be with the lack of care currently going on)0 -
Don't think the DQ nerf affects higher level players as much as lower level players. For lower levels, I think that Tideborn chain and Treasure Chest chain can already get them enough for skills and lowbie gear. As for the rest of us, whenever we'd want a piece of new gear, we're obviously going to farm mobs for it. Not
Lvl 100s with suck gear is because they leveled too fast without farming anything, not because of the DQ nerf.Elena Costel: I wash my hands of this affair.
Legerity: *drags you back* *stains your hands with said affair*

Actually, it affects everyone. See, your not looking at the big picture here. As I've stated before time after time, many 90+ players aren't going to grind for DQ. That's obvious. However...
Low level players get the DQ drops from grinding, or questing, which they NPC the drops and get coin. Although some people catshop, either way - these people are getting coin. What do low level players spend coin on? Well although they often spend coin on things like leveling up their skills, which - the coin essentially vanishes off the server, since the coin is given to a NPC, and never given back to any player; Often times these players buy things from catshops, or buy gold with the in-game coin. If the low level player purchases something from a catshop, that coin is going to someone merchanting. That player merchanting, weather they are a low level or high level, or even have a high level main... That coin is going to them, which they in return will spend on something possibly from a catshop, or get gold from in-game coin. The coin flys around the server giving people things to essentially purchase. This coinage, combined with TW mirage coin, and many other ways gives Gold it's in-game worth (450k per gold, etc). It gives many in-game items value. If you would say, that it's mostly not DQ prices doing this, well think of the big picture... A level 70 player can grind 300k+ an hour, right? Take 10 people doing that at once, which I'd have to assume there is a actually much more players grinding or questing, and gaining that coin at one time; your reaching 5-10m an hour per a set of 10 people, but most likely there are much more players doing this at once.
So, yes - it does affect high level players, even though 95% of all 90+ players don't grind (Although most "good" gamers do complete all their quests, which essentially is grinding mobs for a set amount of quest-drops or quest kills, and thus giving players DQ drops).
Also, level 100s w/ fail gear come from the recent 3-x nerfs, and many other in-game economical issues. By level 90, 99% of players won't have any TT90, or the capability to acquire them. A pro squad of level 90s can't farm their TT90 gear anymore - even while on a VoIP program and exceptional communication. Yes, people will say it's possible. However, it's only possible if the players have merch'ed decent gear at the time, or have spent real-life cash. The best you can expect a level 90 player to have without merchanting or real-life cash is TT80 horribly sharded/refined, or mold gear horribly sharded/refined. Either that or the player must not accomplish their dalies each day, which is what you as a player are "supposed" to do.0 -
The compensation could also been a permanent Jones Blessingb:chuckle0

Thing was no valid arguement will get through a fanbois's mind, yes i'm refering to all those who think that this game is "fine" as it is.
As i have stated before on my post that have been edited out by frankie that they already have diehard fanbois defending their sloppy excuse for a game. Heck even trolling here is much better than logging in the game now.

On Sanct, people have farmed 2-3 instead of 3-3. It does bring you enough money to fund off okayish gear when you add in your daily Nirvana profits as well. TT99 was always seen as CSer gear on Sanct anyway.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.
