First off its awesome that we have a genuine event. This is the first real event I remember since may of last year (not counting the half implemented snowmen).

Anyway I noticed alot of the Summer Festival Event is already in the DB and did a bit of digging.

This event is a new public quest that takes place in the world. You try to accumulate as much contribution as possible and then get rewards at the end.

You start with the festival invitation: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/27523
And in the first part either have to visit a few NPCs around arch http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/21417 (160 contrib) or choose to wait http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/21418
1 minute: 40 contribution
3 minutes: 150 contribution
5 minutes: 300 contribution

If you have a fast mount I recommend visiting the NPCs.

After that is the part where you have to kill lots of mobs:
http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/21435

The ultimate reward to all this appears to be this:
http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/21400

Tiger Head Gift Pack ▼
Reward for those who fought the Nien Beasts.

Mirage Celestone - 10 (30%)
Immaculate Citrine Shard (5%)
Immaculate Sapphire Shard (5%)
Immaculate Garnet Shard (5%)
Spring Fashion Ticket (Perm.) (0.5%) - The spring fashion that is already in the boutique
Mysterious Chips (29%) - 10 chips
Ecstasy Card (10%) - 1M coins
Excitement Card (1%) - 5M coins
Socket Stone - 15 (13.5%)
Vigor of Tigers Ticket (1%) - TIGER SHOP!

The Tiger shop seems like the ultimate reward to me of the event since its never been available as anything else.

EDIT: NM it just lasts a week <_<

EDIT2
Now that we've actually done this event other rewards are now known:

Top prize:
10 Tiger Head Gift Pack

Likewise, thanks for putting it all in one convenient location. I spotted the quests, but not the reward pack, during my own digging around.

One thing I'm wondering regarding the contribution quests is whether they run concurrently with the combat portion, or as a prelude to it. The mention of the NPCs being surrounded by Minions seems to point towards concurrently, but the rest of the post seems to point towards the quests being done in a 15-minute window beforehand.

The NPCs for the visiting quest, IIRC, are the man in the rocks outside West Gate, and the lady on the shore outside South Gate. Assuming they are run in a 15 minute window, it comes down to whether you can make the round trip between the NPCs in less than 2.5 minutes or not. And of course, whether you can survive the minions, PKers (on PvP servers), and massive lag.

Expect Celes and Tokens. I have this ominous feeling like these will be "Tiger Packs that are actually available without having to pay, but you still have to work hard to get them AND your chances of getting anything worthwhile are slim to none."

BUT, PvP servers beware of PKers....there's bound to be spawns and hoardes of them at this event...I can only imagine that the Zulu folks and other RPKers will be having picnics at this one...

I anticipate much indiscriminate AOEing, and much amusement. I mean, I'm a carebear by PvP server standards, and I plan on dropping Barrages all over the place. Woe to any pink or red-named players that happen to wander by.

I dare say you're taking an overly pessimistic view. Yes, this will bring quite a bit of coin into the economy. However, I don't think it will come remotely close to matching the scale of Tokens of Best Luck. Also, even if it does cause a significant rise in gold prices, it may well help in making gold more affordable in providing your average, non-cash-shopper a means of obtaining fair amounts of coin.

So just did the event and what a lag fest. I mean epic lag. As usual the start of the event centers around Arch which is lag-tastic to begin with. I mean have the GMs or Devs ever been to Arch?

Also the flow is not very intuitive. When the NPC finally appeared and I got a quest I went out and started killing the spawned mobs but never saw a counter. As such I guess i had to talk to the NPC a second time so even though I killed about 30-40 mobs and helped kill one of the main bosses at the end I never got any reward. Going forward I'll know better.

While I applaud the effort for an event I don't understand why they can't figure out the lag issue. It needs to be spread out form major cities yet the always focus around them. The final stage (kill all 5 of the bosses) who spawn around the major cities only splits the entire server population into 5 groups which still is lag crazy. The first two stages splits it into 3 groups around arch only.

In summary a nice attempt, but once again lag was your biggest detractor form what could be a fair to decent event. If I have tim eto kill I may try the next time, but I won't go rushing for it.

As for the reward list provided I think that given it's free stuff for only about 20-30 minutes of your time it's not a bad list of items you could win. Not super by any means, but fair for the amount of time and effort.

Its funny how people QQ about dailies making it easier to level and then QQ about not getting exp from the event. Its harder to level now right?

I was ranked 35 over all, I know not spectacular but hey it wasn't hard and I did well. Ended up getting a total of 200k xp and 40k sp. Also received 15 socket stones, 15 mysterious chips, 5 mirages, 1 flawless garnet, citrine, & sapphire shard. So overall not bad for 20-30 mins. As far as lag is concerned yea it was there but not as bad as Death from Above event was.

EDIT: Never mind, I talked to the npcs, you actually get more contribution points killing mobs than taking those quests. NOT RECOMMENDED NO MATTER HOW FAST YOUR MOUNT IS. And the mob killing actually takes place also during the first 15 min, not after talking to NPCs.

Now that Ive looked at the rewards, I wonder what the effects of the ecstasy and excitement cards will be on the economy?

It won't have much effect on the game's economy at all actually. These cards are already given on a daily basis from golden boxes and other boxes for doing Cube of Fate. For every 10 golden boxes I open, I usually get 1-2 ecstasy cards (10-20% chance in this case). Seeing how the % chance to get them from different sources are the same, it won't make that much of a difference.

    Ecstasy Card (10%) - 1M coins
    Excitement Card (1%) - 5M coins
