I'm actually poorer since packs came out than I was before. During sales pre-anni pack, we made a killing at merchanting. Battle pack at 50% off would make someone 20 mil in the first day, with a minimum buy of 150K or so to start. The only thing that took time, was opening the dang packs to sell the mats; and that was static if you were rich or poor. Shops would sell out in 5 mins max even when stock was 10K, and gold would be rebought and more packs purchased, etc. That was the first great amassing of wealth.

After that you simply hit every sale, and have money on hand to buy gold when it is cheap. Invest heavily in known good sales. By the time anni packs came around, I had over 1K Gold worth in the form of 1500 1* orbs, 178 Mystic Tome Pages, Gold in reserve, and cash on hand. This was from merchanting like crazy, and it was worth it.

Nowadays you just make the most of events. Helps being higher level, and having access to any buffs you want, but I would run solo mode for 2 hours a day during 2X drops using bloodpaint and hour long cleric buffs to reduce the cost of farming. Ended up not even ticking charm, but even without maximized gear from previous farming you can charm tank profitably with the right class and build.

In just 5 days, I made 40 million worth of drops on those 2 hours a day. If I didn't get banned a week, woulda been over 100 mil, likely more since I was missing weekends.

Now instead of wasting that stupidly, you still farm the mats you need for the gear you want. Take all money made from coin farming and invest it at intelligent points. Each pack sale it should be easy to make 70%+ profit just following the market, which you keep re-investing. Eventually, when you have gained all you need, and want to look at endgaming your gear, you'll have plenty of cash just sitting around to be used. At that point, you can even just go off the interest.

Now will someone be able to do this if they waste their money every time they get it, or don't do some serious grinding during events? Course not, they'll have to chage zhen or simply whine it is impossible to do without charging zhen. I don't like TT myself, but if the 2X drops events comes again I'll do another couple days farming for another good amount of money, until it doesn't compare to money made just from merchanting.

You don't even need to create cat shops to do it, those are just to maximize profits. Cat shops will be open to buy your goods if you discount what everyone is selling at, or just WC and sell that way. The only way it really takes a lot of time to merchant, is when you're trying to get as much as you can in profit. Take a cut in %, and stock will disappear in minutes.

With a decent amount of time, knowledge of AH and around 1m starting money, you can make enough money for lower level gears. It takes time, but I could get around 2 immacs per day that way. That's all I will tell you.

I'm not afriad to admit i buy gold (hell i buy it on a weekly basis).

My normal charge is $30 U.S.D., why? Because i can afford to spend cash i earn on something I want to play for fun, or maybe get something nice w/o having to spend countless hours grinding to get JUST enough coin to buy it off a player.

Gold > Coin. But that is my own perspective

I spent 30$ on the Cloudchase Gryphon. I think it was worth the money, it makes traveling in the game easier and cheaper than running or teleporting.

And no, I don't plan on buying more Zen; 30$ is quite a lot for a single item with limited use.

In response to the original post: Jeeze, if anyone ever said that to me I'd probably tell them they had best be damn happy I and other people foot the bill to make the game free for them so **** off to them.
They pay for internet, movies, video games, video game consoles to play the games, a computer, the internet. Besides, why go to a movie theater when one could just buy the stupid movie on DvD in a month? With the money the average person spends at the theater they could buy it 3 times over!

I've actually spent money on this game because I hate grinding. Hate it hate it hate it. and that's my issue. I like to have a nice mount, nice pixel clothing, and it leaves me something to do, because i already have the stuff I want, so I can get what I need and spend my time playing the game part of the game rather than killing the same mobs over and over beating a dead horse who now has broken in ribs and getting sick of the game because of it. That is why I spend money. :P Though I haven't spent barely anything lately, sure I like the game, and I like to play it, but I can't play it if I don't have a home, internet, or am outright dead.

If you like what you bought it's money well spent. Simple as that.

EDIT: One thing I forgot to add, you can't buy a mount off someone if no one bought it in the first place. Same goes for clothing in-game. And Dragon orbs, charms.... So really, the grinder is nothing without the cash shoppers. Should appreciate them more, really.

Personally i don't spend money here, somehow i expect way better quality of entertainment, graphic..if i must pay 25 euro only for 1 wings, insane 50 Euro for some lotto packs, or even 200 + for a hercules pet..on the end i have pay 50 Euro for Dragon Age Origins and quality, entertainment lvl is there,.ah cant even compare it to PW. Sure 1 is online game and other offline game, but still for PWI prices i would expect way way more, so i dont buy nothing. But i also don't have problems with people who spending money on this game.

Don't need to charge to get decent gears really.

I've had many people claimed I cash shopped to get my +4 Gx, I just merchanted tokens to get the 26mil for the gold mats, farmed the green mats, and got to +4 with money I've made running TT. My TT90 is almost full +4 with immacs, only the boots are still +2, once I'm able to play again I'll just run TT a few times and buy some more mirages/tienkang stones and get them to +4.

I just run TT a lot, merchant occasionally, and my gears are some of the best on my server for non-cash shoppers.

And money management is key, I knew a guy that had full +1 TT90 with 2 flawless in each piece, and was using +1 star axes. And yet he used a charm for almost everything, he even used a charm in FC.

The truth is i don't charge zhen XD... I just got helped by fac people and doing some merchanting trick. Even if u dont believe i dont care coz whatever u said doesnt matter lol. I honestly want to charge zhen but my age and my sis dont let me to use any money for game atm...I have to prepare my university.

b:surrender Used to charge zhen during 1st anni packs to b:chuckle gamble & buy some event ****. Now do it when very lazy but haven't in a while, trying to get more into merchanting & I'd say my gears are pretty decent. Got my lunar cape yesterday.

With zhen.. um the more I charged the more I seemed to need, money management went through the window since I knew I could just charge more tomorrow & not work for gears or save up. Meh market is fun & part of the game.

I see nothing wrong with the whole zen thing. It's just helping the developers put food on the table. Okay, maybe they have other jobs outside Perfect World Entertainment(or their spouse or whatever), but I still don't see how this is a bad thing.

This is true.
Like in another game I used to play, I spent quite a bit on it, but I also played for four years. Once I quit for a few years I got an email of a ton of expensive free stuff offer if I returned. And they basically gave certain items to people depending on how much you'd spent on the game. People who were loyal and never quit didn't get any offers. It was very sad.

Yes I do admit PWI has gone overboard with cash shop items, however, we do not know what the expenses of PWI are.
Lets say (as the new video states) thinking this amount of players is real. I'd say nearly 50% of the players do not charge zen (making this up, just an example). So total of people would be about 25m players charging zen.

If each player spent $10 a month (which im sure does not happen) they'd be getting lets say $250m USD, I have been told Perfect World's licence is worth some billions USDs. This is just what I was told, nothing of this is a for sure.

Now, think how much does an expansion is worth (if PWI is purchasing it from the chinese developers, other billion?) now add the advertisement, maintenance, updates, workers, etc. etc. etc.

Just to mention a game like this does spend some millions on updates and advertising.

I'm pretty sure they do these kind of sales (and overpowered items) because the expenses are going up.
Just think on what kind of Host / servers they must have to hold 50 million players! I'm sure it is REALLY expensive (they're not lame linux servers with 4 GB ram and 100 MBPS for sure lmao)

All I have to say is, PWI, try to maintain the balance by adding things for looks or slightly help items but not overpowered items such as hyper stones and things like that, these do break the game mechanics / normal flow.

The whole argument over cash shoppers keep this game going and free is bullcrap. This game would be much better if it was p2p.

Compare this game to the most well-known mmorpg out there (can't mention it, but the commercials for it feature celebrities like William Shatner and Mr. T). That game has been going strong for years, and is still number one in the genre. It is also p2p. PWI should follow in the same footsteps as that game. But because PWI doesn't (because of their never-ending greed), their ratings continue to drop and more and more people are quitting every day. I don't see this game making it another year unless they make some drastic changes.

Honestly I'm embarrassed by the sheer amount of money I've spent on this game. There's nothing else that I have indulged upon to this degree. It seems idiotic that a student like myself should invest a significant part of her finances in a game that could be free. But I invest quite a bit of time as well - and this allows me to enjoy myself more. I love having the prefect outfit to express my mood, whether in a real or virtual setting.
So... why do people lie? Because they feel guilty about their lack of self-control I suppose. I've lied about my Zen charging before for those reasons.
But I find comfort in the fact that I still enjoy this game to the upmost - with the side affects of it consuming more of my life that advisable... And the fact that I still don't count as a heavy cash shopper. At least some crazy people have spent twenty times what I have... lol.

Also to the troll above me: Perfect World is not losing more players than it is attracting. The company's quarterly reports are outstanding so this game will likely continue for quite a while yet. There simply is not valid free to play competition from my point of view. Pay 2 Play is a completely different market niche, and even if it would theoretically save many people money its not attractive for various reasons. I for one don't like being required to spend; I prefer spending $100 at once for something I want, then $50 a month for just access.
In addressing your signature: Trolls attempt to cause random controversies. They distract from the true purpose of forum threads to supplement their bland existence. If you want to be a troll - go work out, get in shape, and be one in real life. Forum trolls are just a nuisance.

It is very simple it is my money and exchange rates that is being charged on my credit card and 10 gold is $10.00 USD dollars real money.I usually by $50. worth and what I see in the AH with that virtual money that isn't real you dam rights I will charge $100 mill.25 million for a magic sword get real or 10 million for TT90 Arcane leggings yeah right.I would say that most of those selling these items don't buy zen.Don't tell me to grow a brain maybe you should get out and see how the real world sets its prices.I am a pretend cash shopper am I.I do buy items with real money get it through you thick head.you accuse me of lying which I am not.I only have 2.5 million coin on me not enough to get any decent sets of TT gear as well as weapons.I can say this atleast I am supporting this game if I waited long enough I could of bought a lifetime subscription to another game well over $300.00 CDN.I spent more on that on zen.
