Besides, there is NO legal contract when two people get married in game making this official. So no law is being broken.

No, never said according to my logic you'd be a mass murderer. That's like saying everyone who plays this game is a mass murderer because they kill enemies and other players. No, the reasons why I cannot explain myself is because you shot me down. Explaining myself would force me to go into issues and topics that are against the TOS. If you still have no idea what I'm talking about, go read the TOS. It's the same as you stating your side and having people talk smack about it. I'm simply stating my side and am getting the same reaction.

My main point is this thread is pointless. The GM's have stated NUMEROUS times that the devs will never allow it. And as far as following laws and that it doesn't matter that this game is based in China? It's not abouit following laws, but it does matter that it is based in China. That is where new content comes from, and they're not gonna break their so-called "tradition" for any of us.

Ugh, either way I've wasted too much of my time in this thread. When the day comes (which it won't) that PW allows same-sex marriage, then, and only then, can you throw it in my face. Until then, QQ more. QQ in one hand, b:fatb in the other, and see which one fills up faster.

a) MMO's aren't Chinese Tradition.. b) PW isn't a tradition
It's a game made by Chinese (actually Malaysian people if I remember correctly), who made their own decisions but that doesn't mean it can't be coded differently by other people who also host the game.

In general, same-sex marriage will allow guys playing venos to marry their girlfriend playing a female avatar. ALSO allow people marriage quest. If they limit marriage to only straights, then they should change name to Straight Couples Quest.

this just ain't gonna happen. it's too much of a risk. didn't read the other posts so i ain't sure if this has been bought up. but the gaming indutry is already under fire from things like violence, and what not. putting same sex marriages is a risk that few if ANY mmo will take. could you imagine what protesters would do? really it's more problems than it's worth. a testament to this is simply how it isn't implemented. this idea could being tons of cash in but it's not here. why? becos there is a potential risk that protesters (like a certain bared Florida lawyer xD) would somehow interfere with the game. this COULD cause a domino effect should it be put on the media. when parents see it, and realize their kids are playing said game what you think will happen? they will forbid the them from playing and ALOT of pw players are under 17 and most likely living with their parents. and considering how the media loves to spice things up you can understand why same sex marriages is a can of worms few would open.


the ones who are hell bent on getting this idea past seem to have a total lack of understanding. few are hating or intlorent to the idea. it's all about business and the fact that this is a game and games are used to escape real life issues.

picture this: you own a store that sells plants, then you decide "hey weed would sell pretty good." you put it up for sale. what do you think will happen? everyone would stop going there. business wise NO plant store would sell plants like that becos it's more trouble than it's worth (granted those plants are full blown illegal but i trust you have the idea). the same thing can be said here with this idea.


some would say if your trying to escape real life issues, then y marriages are in the game in the first place? the answer is simple. marriages are not a real life issue, same sex marriges on the other hand IS.


perhaps one day same sex marriages in mmos will be common. but it's not now people are to narrow minded simple as that. think logically and not emotionally you'll understand that from a bessness stand point it's too risky

Um, wow. I just had to comment on how stupid this is. First of all, same sex marriage is legal in some states. The federal government doesn't really feel like getting into the cluster-**** issue that's become so they pretty much left the decision to the state governments. Sure, the defense of marriage act basically says that they won't recognize a union between two people of the same sex as an actual marriage but they don't exactly prohibit it either.

So, PW is art? Well, let's go with that. Art is made by people. People have certain beliefs they grew up with. In China they grew up in a society where ****/**** marriage is taboo. Most likely they themselves will also think the the same thing on ****/lesbians. Would an artist willingly include something they are against in their art? No.

Why is this so difficult for people to understand? The devs are being dicks and won't let anyone else change the code. An EXCELLENT point! So many real-life players of PWI have been forced to use avatars that do not match their real-life genders, that even if they wanted to marry their real-life heterosexual mates in PWI, they cannot. A good example would be one of my alts that is a Venomancer, even though I'm male, cannot marry my real-life wife, who is a cleric, since both the veno and cleric are females in the game. Venos CAN tank (just ask my veno friend who solos TT 1-3 without a Herc!), and we would have enjoyed being a team, but I don't want to be a barbarian. I have 7 characters and 5 of them of female. My cleric, archer, veno, psychic and assassin are all female. I will never have a Tideborn male because I don't care for the way they move (and the many comments I always hear people making about that issue.)

So very many people have been forced (or chosen) to wear unmatched gender avatars in the game, that the rule of 1M+1F is completely pointless. PWI won't allow same gender marriages, despite the fact that probably more than half their players are wearing the opposite gender avatar! The women might enjoy the power of being a barbarian, I don't know. But it's a sure thing that many of the guys have female avatars because they enjoy watching them while playing the game.

Just clarify for him that you're playing WITH the veno, not AS the veno. Use "Charlie's Angels" for an analogy and just tell him you're the unseen Charlie and the veno is just one of your angels. Just don't let him catch you using Embrace though. That'd be a little different to explain.
Glad he's talking to you again. Maybe he finally understands A) this is just a GAME, and It's PWI's fault for not allowing venos to be guys. Hadn't they ever seen the movie Beastmaster?

Meanwhile, my veno wants to marry her darkbreed wolfkin battle pet. And my barbarian has a crush on one of the pet trainer (NPC) veno girls, but she never answers him. Oh my, what shall I do? I have two accounts and should have put the veno and barb on separate accounts so they could marry, but alas, I goofed and have them both on the same account, so when one logs in the other vanishes. Like the legend of Ladyhawke, they can never quite meet. How tragic. b:chuckle

(If you ever make a second account, have the males on one and the females on the other, so that if you have two PC's they can help each other.)

Lol... yea it is an art... and we never know what artist are thinking :P like i said... just let them design it as they want to.. And... like people said... Money can change it... I do not speak for the Community Manager or PWE, but to answer this thread and then close it, here is why it isn't going to change.

Game is made in China. Different culture, billions of people with their own views.

The game was not designed for it. It was designed on traditional Chinese myths and themes. A game shouldn't be changed just because a cultural or political shift in a different country wants it to be so. Please keep in mind China and the US operate different types of governments with their own laws.

Imagine if Mario got changed into a Yellow Dinosaur because people wanted him to be. It'd change the game, and anger a lot of people. Imagine if people didn't want the Sun anymore, and decided to make it go supernova because they didn't like it.

Because a poll is posted and X amount of people vote on it, doesn't make it a "law" that the game will then change. The developers and designers in China created the world that we play in with set rules for a reason. We always appreciate the feedback, please don't get upset when something doesn't get changed.

TLDR: It isn't going to change for the foreseeable future due to cultural, legal, and design reasons.

End of line...
