    Except spoons will be using a random number generator to do the picking. But honestly, you can't guarantee any 'fairness' you can only hope there will be. I don't see Spoons as someone that plays favorites. I also see him as a person who will do his best to keep things honest and above board (thus his requirement to me that if I fail to pay out, I get perma banned). There is a point where you have to trust sometimes. If you can't trust the GM's to be impartial, well....

    *edit* Besides, I am sure more than one GM will be looking over his shoulder when he uses the RNG to pick the winning number.

    I can see your intentions.. Sadly an event' of this kind will always be subject to public opinions and toughts like the ones in this thread, thus while I appreciate your good will, you must think about if it's really worth the trouble that you are having and that you will have, specially by involving a Game Administrator, this situation will continue to go on, ask yourself if it's worth your effort and the continious involvement of such person. Just a tought b:cute

    Considering I am home with the flu and basically don't have anything to do, at least for this week, it's worth doing for me.

    Later on I may be writing a script to put up on one of my domains that will take your character name, your server name, and generate a lottery number for you. I will then cross check the information sent to whichever character on the servers I am using to run the lottery to see if the correct players have sent in their buy ins at which point I will vet their numbers in the script.

    Then when it comes time to pick the lottery number, a new script will take the vetted numbers, and randomly pick the winning number from that series.

    The scripts for this are relatively simple and can be automated for the most part (except the vetting).

    If I win this, I'm going to do something nice... donate to the Sick kids foundation... or building homes for the homeless... to give back. Nice of you to hold this, lets hope this pot grow a bit larger, get the attention of more people on the server.

    Though I can't help but wonder about the loop hole in this system...

    People can be paranoid. Sadly, being paranoid is a positive trait on the Internet and I don't blame anyone for being so. It is better to be paranoid and 'safe' than not and 'screwed'.

    As you pointed out though, there is GM involvement in this Lottery and the consequences for me should I fail to hold it as stated is a permanent Ban. Hopefully that will alleviate some of the fears of those who enter.

    Remember folks, buy in is 200,000 coin, 100% of that 200k goes in to the pot. Currently there is a 4 million coin pot and still several days to go before the winning number gets drawn.

    One ticket per character only.

    What happens to the coin, if the RNG does not draw any number assigned to any runner???

    But basically I would guess they will continue using w/e system they do until a winner is found

    Well tbh I dont know how RNG works, but knowing is better then guessing

    So I would like to KNOW

    Is this RNG programable to include all previously drawn numbers and randomly select one of those, or is it only programable to draw any number lets say between 1 and 999999 ?

    That won't be a problem. Number ranges will be programed in and ran until a winner is picked.

    MagicHamsta, technically yes. It's one entry per character, not account (I would not be able to determine accounts,) and I am trying to limit PWI personnel's involvement as much as possible because they do have better things to do than dig through and see who's account has what characters just for this lottery. Thus tickets are limited to one per character.

    I have a question. How is the player that wins getting the pot? by mail or are you handing it to them? Like do the winner have to be on to get the pot so on so on. Just random thought.

    Unless there is an upper limit on how much coin can be sent through the mail system, the pot will be sent to them via mail and I will be frapsing myself posting to the winner with their winnings and posting it as a link on the forums for everyone to see.

    If on the other hand the pot exceeds the mail systems upper limit, then I will either mail it to them in segments or arrange to meet them in game to send them their winnings. (also frapsed)
