Herc? Help?

All factions appear to have their shortcomings and I am happy with the faction in many other respects. Didn't have the intention to identify the faction or put it down as a whole. It does irk me when I earn coin to buy my stuff then someone believes they have more right to the same thing I bought because they didn't take the time to earn it. Making myself stronger makes the faction stronger. I don't have everything I want yet, and merchanting is part of the game. I see a coin value on everything, and if people weren't self centered, I think they would too. I like to think I earned what I got and I expect others to earn for themselves in the same way. Despite this, I'm called greedy, attempts at changes in drop rules are made after the fact, and members throw tantrums for me not being self sacrificing for them.

There are many worse factions, and I know of none better.

Perhaps, I was lucky as some of my faction mates have said. b:laugh

Herc makes solo-ing FB(s) easier. I just soloed the BH 39 last night on all 3 bosses (2 required, but calcid needs to die to open the door).

So it's pretty fun and trains you up on pulling (though I still used eldergoth sharpshooter for initial pulling with herc tanking the mob later)

But 1 thing I noticed though, herc is gaining very slow exp throughout the whole run, while I was gaining exp, is this normal?

I'm currently lvl 53, I was lvl 52 when I did the solo run. Does the switching of pets makes herc level slower in FB-solo ?

Pets only gain exp if they are no more than 10 levels above the mob you're attacking. Also, you/pet have to do most of the damage to a mob for the kill to be counted. The pet that is out when the mob dies, gets the exp.

Herc is legendary pet and there is no doubt that it is the best tank pet.
But that doesn't mean you can't do anything without it.
I can do TT 2-2 by myself easy with my Magmite, with no spam healing,
and with low magic for my lvl. ( I use TT60 Sword) b:surrender
I also have shrill/shriek pet skill that can cancel the boss's cast.
Only lvl 1 with 60% chance to work! It's great.

I do not have a herc so I do not know about squad mode.
But I have a friend who has a herc, and we do squad mode all the time, just the two of us.
You have to share mats, but drop rate is higher in squad. So it is worth it.

I am getting a herc, even though I am a little against them.
I firmly believe that you do not need a herc to rock in PWI, and I have never had a problem getting a squad without one.
But my faction is growing and without a high lvl barb we often have to rely on good barb friends or our bms. Luckily we have amazing high lvl clerics.
I'm hoping a herc could greatly help us, but they cannot tank everything.

Using Lv. 90 stats

Herc's mdef: 7161
Nix mdef: 10742
Wind Walking Piggie's mdef: 7507
Armored Bear's mdef: 7618

I chose these 3 pets because they also have decent HP making them suitable tanks.

Now take into consideration a typical world boss's attack:

Physical Attack
17139 - 20567
Magic Attack
7234 - 8681

- A ranged pet can in many cases avoid the phys attack which is over 3x as strong as mag on some bosses like World Bosses. In cases where a Herc can be one shot, a ranged pet could allow attacks between heals. Also in cases where your pet is getting hit faster than you can heal it, range tanking forces use of mag attacks only which are much slower and consistent. When it comes to TT bosses: their matk tends to be much stronger than their patk which is why I listed the mdef of few pets at the top.

That's solo mode though, squad mode requires a herc to tank... however it won't require one for other roles.

yeah ur right,herc cant tank everything but it really helps alot.
u can do squad mode then alone < better profit.
if barb dies < steal agro and save the squad.
even if its boss which herc cant tank u can keep herc alive (guessing ur magic attack is high and u can heal it long enough) till barb get rez,full hp (if no charm) and buffs.
bosses which herc can tank < saves money to barb for repair bill b:surrender
