Alright, for like the billionth time, I'm going to make another veno.
I know hercs are very expensive, top of the line ****, I'm willing to spend a lot to get it if it's worth it.
Half of the people I know say the hercs suck and get mad beause they wasted all that money on a herc. Others say that the herc is wonderful and can tank just about everything.
Once I get a chance to do TT's and other stuff, would the herc be the only pet that could tank them or could any other pet tank just as well?
Also, I've seen a lot of numbers for how much a herc costs. Any help with those?
Thanks.

Yes, you can tank almost anything with a herc. By L80 you can solo TT3-1 in squad mode buy you will probably have some "scary" moments. Outside of TT, the herc can tank almost any boss in the game. There are exceptions of course. This is the balance the game keeps with the tanking classes like Barb and BM. Herc is your best bet for tanking, a rock pet or bear pet might suffice, but the herc is better with the buffs and the bramble.
Handled properly, you can AoE grind with the herc. I think a herc is worth it. I love my herc, though, I will admit I get sick of people asking if I have a herc and blah blah blah.0 -
To be honest, a herc is like a "must have" by level 80. People would actually squad you instead of the other 48547564578634534 venos that wants the spot. For example, in gamma, no one takes a herc-less veno. So you might wanna start saving up. I got both herc and nix with coins, just by merchanting and finding good deals on pf/sof/packs whenever I could.I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.0 -

TT3-1 is possible at lvl80? b:shocked For real? xD I thought 3-x series were very hard...Moved to WoW b:bye0 -

3-1 is a veno's wet dream, except for the timed boss.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -
Herc's expensive? Skills are running higher than what I paid for Herc. Herc is still easily obtained in a single level for ~85+. All the discouraging just leads venos down paths that fail (like investing in magmites)Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0

Why make another one? What is wrong eith your current one just get/save up for a herc?I would of if you could of bought some battle packs with sale.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

It's true. With the right equips and some -Channeling gear, you can tank 3-1 bosses with just a herc. Worth every coin, but then again I scraped and saved when SoFs/PFs were only 2k+ each, not the 6k horrors they are now.0

Uh - with the current cost of gold? 182 million for a herc.
That aint cheap.
The herc is indeed wonderful. It lets me do solo things I couldn't otherwise do. It lets me try silly things.
When in a group, it's rarely noticably better than any other pet.0 -
Thanks for all your help guys. I really apprciate it, I probably will start saving for a herc.MystiMonk - Sanctuary wrote: »Why make another one? What is wrong eith your current one just get/save up for a herc?I would of if you could of bought some battle packs with sale.
Well, if I can find a way to sell all my thing on my current veno, I'm just going to make another veno with a herc, simply because my current veno was built weird, and I don't want to spend money I could be spending on resets. :P0 -
some other pets are nice and u can use them for hh,but i am not sure can they tank squad mode unless u get herc buffs on them.i used shadou long time, but i could do only solo mode.
about price,6k is good deal..
atleast in lost city server, most of people sell them for 8-10k~ b:surrender
i wouldnt hope gold will go down as much,so ur idea of making new veno could help u little bit..
start save money for it from start,if ur not planning to use real $ for it.
its gonna cost u alot with this prices, but its gonna pay off eventually0 -

Your math is off, it looks like you used 372 pet packs at 1 gold each rather than 372 packs at 50 silver each. It's about 90-100 million right now depending on your luck with packs.
500k gold means 4 packs for 1 million coin (actually 1.02 million).
Still ridiculously expensive but not as bad.
Edit: If someone wants a herc right now, my suggestion would be to partially buy it and be patient. It seems that without too much trouble, it's possible to get 20 gold (2000 zen) out of free offers. In addition to that, by spending $50 you can get 53 gold (this is the same as a 3 month subscription to a pay to play MMO, it's not much to ask really particularly if you're not buying anything else). That's 73 gold, if you were to list that in the trader, going by DW's current pricing of 533k sell/499k buy, you could place 71 gold for 533k each giving you 37,843,000 coin. Use this to buy tokens at the lower end of the going rate, just make sure you spend it all on tokens. Lets say you get them at 19k each, that's 1991 tokens. Sit on those tokens and wait for packs to leave. At that point resell the tokens at 30k each and you'll have 59,730,000 coin. Use this coin to buy gold at 300k (assuming that's what it drops to after packs are gone) and you'll be at 195 gold. Enjoy the herc. $50 cash, maybe 3 hours of filling out offers, and waiting for sales to end.0 -
Oh, yeah - half what I posted. Gold is only 500k, not 1m yet. Stupid me
It's still ridiculous, as you say.0 -
arent packs permanent in game this time b:question0
-
Uhm i hope not. the tokens realy annoy me ... and not only cause the duke endlessly announcess stuff <.<0
-
I think we can safely assume that these packs are, at the very least, like Jolly Jones packs, and will keep coming back.0
-
Yep, they're probably going to be a recurring item, 3-4 times a year. Not permanent though.0
-
So either i grinde half a year or i work 3 days extra for the 250$$ to optain a herc.
seriously.. i would classify grinding as work which means i would rather spend money to get it.
and i am not good at trading so i am not sure if i could pull of the token trade as suggested earlier b:surrender0 -

Might disagree with you. You don't need herc to run gammas. I got herc only few levels ago and I ran gammas from lvl78-85 and got refused only once. I ran gammas daily, I made squad only once or twice and usually got few invites to rb daily. Herc is good, but nobody will take you to gamma unless you have some skills too. If herc is all you are looking in gamma squads, then I am not surprised that I heard how squad mates praised me and flamed other venos in rb runs.
But I agree on part that at 80s you just as well could save up for a herc. Why? For a simple reason - TT3-1. Easy, short and not too hard. And you can really start to run it at low 80s, with two venos' heals it is possible to tank bosses there even in mid 70s.
At later levels you shouldn't have too big problems with getting money by earning it in game. I got it all in a month just from lazy saving (means I still spent it here and there).0 -

How the hell do you obtain Herc in a single ~Lvl85+? I want a herc but never seems to have the money..[SIGPIC]http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll268/Vi3tSoul93/MKSiggieBlue.png[/SIGPIC]

Peruco told me L80 venos can solo tank TT3-1. I was L84 the first time and I was squaded with him (he was 95+ at the time and is an archer). You will win brownie points if you carry Windrage Incense to use now and then to squeak in an amp. By 90 you won't need to use Incense to amp.0

What tweakz means is this. If you level from 84-85 by doing nothing but grind, you will make enough coin from drops to buy a herc. Getting that much exp through grinding is absolutely absurd, and feels more like a job than fun. And unless you play 10-12 hours per day, it'll take quite a long time to achieve.0 -

It is always nice to take cleric with you for the red bubble.

I know.. World Quest and Crazy Stone is where the fun is. -lolBe kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
And that's most certainly my point too. Why would I not just play?
I can understand why people want to level up their alts, since they've already played and enjoyed the early levels (mind you, I think when I start an alt I'll probably linger through the 30s and 40s, they went WAY too fast for me this time through)
But... logging on and paying coins to NOT play the game? That makes no sense. Let alone for classes which have way worse 'no coin' issues than me.0 -
As others have already said, the Herc is godly. Good ways of saving up for a Herc is to not upgrade your gear (just wear whatever you pick up or your friends give you), kill with a golem and sell the loot and dqs in shop, rare pet monopoly, and you can always run an Fb29 solo with a buddy at around lvl 51 (faster killing speed and still a chance to get some nice molds). I personally do not suggest doing TT runs as they take way too long and the split isn't even that great.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Eldergoth Marksman with Protect, Claw isn't far off. My Herc gets 1 hit by WB, Marksman lets me hit back between heals.Good ways of saving up for a Herc is to not upgrade your gear (just wear whatever you pick up or your friends give you), kill with a golem and sell the loot and dqs in shop, rare pet monopoly, and you can always run an Fb29 solo with a buddy at around lvl 51 (faster killing speed and still a chance to get some nice molds). Gear is an investment, is resellable (usually) and helps you get the grinding done faster. Considering you can resell it, I don't think it's a good idea to skimp too much. Golem is slow, mag def weak, in the way, and comes with very limited skills. Other pets like a Lunar Lupin, Eldergoth Marksman / Sharpshooter, and a L2 Scorpion should be considered as they probably won't be made obsolete by a Herc. TT can be very profitable. I'd do it more if I wasn't in one of those factions that caters to the whiny self centered 'me me me my my my i need' worthless panhandlers.
Merchanting is part of the game. I suck at it, but it's still a way I make coin. Some people sink their XP into genies and sell them.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -

Only if you want a low exp gain. It's faster to grind the ~144k it costs to teleport through wq, and then teleport through it than it is to fly around from place to place. It's more exp for less time spent too.0 -
@OP - The herc would probably be your main tank for most bosses. In a party with good players, you would probably use a different pet, something with high dps, debuffs and maybe an attack skill, for when you need to grab the attention of a mob really quickly. For regular grinding, there are other pets you could use that would be better at keeping aggro, so you can kill the mobs faster.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Sorry if we feel need of the overall faction is greater than the money making potential of the individual. It benefits the whole faction more that way. There are a few exceptions to that rule. We are one for all and all for one.working it Q_Q
