If you dont mind flying the speed you do at beginner wings, its not too bad. I still know some pple at 80 or so who had them. Its more 'show' than actual 'usage'
might be more useful tho speedwise if your on a pvp server[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]lagunal8.deviantart.com

The only pair you get later from quests are the Eagle Wings at lvl 30, and they aren't much faster than your starter wings (although they don't take mp to fly).
If you're okay with being a bit slower, then it's up to you. Personally, I'm taking "Flight Mastery," the skill that increases your starter wings by +.2 each level (max 10 levels at +2.0). Maxed, Flight mastered starter wings are about as fast as the average boutique wings... but the boutique wings are prettier, and some are quite fast, if you're willing to spend a little money.
It's your call. PW requires a lot of traveling... so I suggest you either get good wings or buy a mount. How you go about it is completely up to you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The Quest wings you get at lvl 30 are only +.5 m/s or basically 10% faster than your run speed and cannot be upgraded. Boutique Wings can be upgraded.
I personally hate going so slow and one of the best investments I made at lvl 30 is a maxed speed Aeromount +3M/S or about 60% faster than run speed. I use it even today. On my new Alts I get the lvl 20 Aerogear as soon as they hit 20.
As you level up you will find having to travel further and further to do Quests or help Faction members, some locations aren't easily teleportable. If you can afford it buy the fastest set of wings. Some of the more common wings can be bought cheaply in the AH.0 -
Buy it from people, its always cheaper too
...i bet their gonna make wings bounded or somethin now0 -

The percentages depend on class, items and buffs. For example, Archers run at a default of 5.2m/s, with the Eagle Wings going at 5.5m/s, for an increase of ~6%. Or, an archer with Wings of Protection goes at 6.0 m/s, at which point the Eagle Wings are ~8% slower.
However, for Archers and Clerics, the budget option is to get MP Recovery +2 somewhere and get lvl 10 Flight Mastery, which will get you a 2.0 m/s wing for a total of 7.0 m/s for MUCH less than what it would cost to buy any of the boutique 2.0 m/s wings: 107,300 Spirit, which is about 5 WQs worth of Spirit, thus insignificant and 139,950 coins, which is much less than the several hundreds of thousands if not millions that you would have to pay for any 2.0 m/s wings. And if you plan on getting Cape of Tauran Chieftain, that solves everything, as it has MP Recovery +3.
Of course, if you wanted to maintain 100% of your mana while in combat, you would need MP Recovery +4, which isn't too tough. And of course, Clerics don't need to worry about that at all.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0 -
Yes. It is. For me, two things make game playing totally enjoyable: super inventory stone and a fast fly. I bought a near (upgraded) max fly from a faction member. It's just made a world of difference.0

When you start doing world quest, there is no mount that will make up for really fast wings. They are a godsend.
If you PK, fast wings are a godsend.
If you're a cleric who's got to be flying around healing barbs who keep running away from you (or bosses that keep moving), fast wings are a godsend.
On my main, I've got maxed wings. On my alt, the lvl 30 fly. Going to do quests that are far away on my alt makes me want to shoot myself in the face.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

base airspeed is 5.0m/s
white wings have a +0.0m/s(no accelerate) modifier, for a total airspeed of 5.0m/s (can be upgraded with Flight Mastery up to +2.0m/s, for total airspeed of 7.0m/s)
Eagle Wings, which you get from a lvl 30 quest, have a +0.5m/s(2.5m/s on accelerate) modifier, for a total airspeed of 5.5m/s(7.5m/s on accelerate)
wings from the boutique have modifiers that start at +1.0m/s(3.0m/s on accelerate), and end at +3.0m/s(5.0m/s on accelerate)
highest wing speed, when fully upgraded, is +3.0m/s(5.0m/s on accelerate), for a total airspeed of 8.0m/s(10.0m/s on accelerate)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

+3.0m/s elven radiance = win.
But then again I got it when the wings were aprox 1mil and the wind widgets to max it were like 13kea.The only way to win is to quit. b:bye0 -
It is up to you if the money it costs to get one is worth the speed difference.
Also, you should shop around in game, and check the Auction House and the cat/cow shops. Sometimes you can get a good deal.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -

I would say the Elven wings look just good as Seraphic Mist in a way.I wouldn't mind the Elven wings having longer wing span though like the priest.
I still see lots of Clerics and Archers using them even at the high lvlsLooking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -

You forgot that some wings have a haste speed of +6.0 which enables them to, in essence, move as fast as a maxed mount without the burdens of running into obstacles (assuming you keep them fueled and stay on accelerate)0 -
You can buy 3.0/5.0 flying mounts easily for in game coin, much cheaper than if you buy it in the boutique with real $. Just search the market and don't be picky.
Bought a max speed Isfarel for 1.8mil not too long ago...0 -
Like everyone said it's all a matter of preferance. I bought them back when I was like a level 20 because I am EXTREMELY impatient and flying took too long *shrugs* but if your patient and can wait to get from place to place i'd say save your money0
