Shattered Gear

On the PvP server I get random Pk'd all the time, not my fault and if the PK'r is much higher level I stand no chance. So GAs are not affordable. Binding is the right option. But now the value of binding is dramatically reduced.
If the cost of Shattering is minimal say one or 2 cheap Chi stones, that is somewhat ok. But we have yet to see what the Shattering of a 50 Gold Flying Mount is going to cost. Also, being stranded somewhere remote with ridiculously high Teleport costs doesn't sound like much fun when you originally paid lots of Gold for a fast Flyer and binding charms.
That's not true. It may reduce the value of binding, but not dramatically. It's such a low rate of shatter, that I'm sure some people may accept the risk and continue to do what they do.
I do think this system helps balance the PVP aspect of the game; there's so many random pk'ers who have binded gear to avoid purchasing dolls. Now just like everybody else, they too are exposed to risk when PVP'ing, despite buying some cheap binding charms and permanently protecting themselves.
So unless they can accept the risk, time for a new plan folks. b:bye0 -

Apparently the cost of repairing a shattered TT60 weapon is 4 mirages. And repairing shattered aerogear is 20 mirages.
These are figures I heard in-game from people that had equips shatter, but don't know if they're correct.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

Well, you are level 88, my char isn't even lvl 50 yet so I get all those high level bullies jumping on me. In fact I was recently Pk'd by someone in the top 5 of the PK rankings. Easy pickings to boost their scores and no risk to them at all.
Even a 1% chance of having my Flyer shattered at a very high cost may make it difficult to continue to play for a while. I mean if Michael_Dark is even close to correct 20 Mirages at 30K is 600K. That is a steep price to pay and not something I signed up for when I joined the PvP server and bought my Flyer.
So basically Yoyo you have it backwards. It increases the imbalance and increases the temptation for random Pk'rs to pick on easy prey who will then have their equipment shattered.
It also discourages lower levels from PvP amongst themselves to gain PvP experience since that makes them red and the risk/cost even higher.0 -

Well, if you have the safety lock off, even without dolls, it's a 0% chance to shatter anything when you're white or pink-named. However also with the lock off, you're vulnerable to dropping items from your inventory, but not your equipment, since you are white/pink-named. So if you are getting rpk'd and you're white/pink with the safety lock off, you have nothing to worry about.0 -

Well thanks for clarifying that, it does help since I rarely go beyond Pink. But it puts a damper in fun PK battles amongst similar levels. I think the big issue is I would never have bought and bound an expensive flyer if I knew this was coming down the pipeline. They dramatically changed the rules and put low level PvPrs at a huge disadvantage.0 -
ok, so how far off is enough off? If i defend do i still have the chance of dropping? What if i just take it on the chin?

...Outside of the confusion between the meaning of "Safety Lock"...
White and Pink named have the same chances for shattering. So defending yourself won't make your chance higher.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

A new PVP equipment drop/damage system has been implemented. The following rules now apply during PVP combat:
The following rules apply in regards to Safety Lock, PVP and Gear Shatter.
Gear Shattered with Safety Lock ON:
Players with their Safety Lock ON will no longer drop items due to being killed during player vs. player combat. However, players with Safety Lock ON will be subject of a higher percentage of Gear Shatter (the percentage that upon being killed an item will be shattered).
wait im so confuzzled o.O
So does "player-lock on" = blue named? or is this just and only for PK servers & those silly enough to be in PK on a PvE server?
If it's the former, then am I reading that when I die in the cube or HH I can now "break" my gear?
And if it's the latter, why would PWI impose such harsh harsh penalties when this PK system has worked fine the way it was for several years?0 -

The "Safety Lock" in the game is the lock in the beginning that keeps you from trading or dropping items or talking to NPCs, normally for one minute after you log on (but the time can be edited).
However, when everyone was confused about if it meant the Safety Lock or the PvP protections, spoons said he would look into it and have it tested. He didn't say which was meant.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

You can see how many mirage stones you will need for every equipment that shatters -> http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi
For example.. GX decomposes to 16 Mirage Stones so its 16x1.2 in mirages what you need if it shatter and you want to repair it...
http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/14830
Decompose to: 16 Mirage Celestone
Have fun paying alot of mirage to continue pk'ing b:cute0 -
good job GMs for doing this rigth when a new game is comming out, wanna give them more of a reason to quit PWI? b:shutupI don't care how old or young you are, how small your **** is, how much of a nerd irl you are or how depressed you are that you never will get laid. There is no reason to act like an A-hole to everyone on an mmorpg. Its a shame that I have to take time out of my day to tell people "stop being an A-hole". So I end with this, if your acting like an A-hole, and some one tells you your being an A-hole chances are your being an A-hole.0

I'm not going to that new game. I'm not paying monthly fees! Shattered gear don't effect me. The only thing that annoys me is the mysterious lightning that strikes me and yet does no damage. I'm always by myself when this happens too! No faction mates, no other players, no mobs. So how about it GMs? Fellow players? Anyone know what that mysterious lightning is?0 -
Btw if I do leave to play another game it will be "Hello Kitty Island Adventure." Either a GM will get a chuckle out of that or will get ticked off that I mentioned that game's name (-see Southpark for reference.) b:chuckle0

So conceivably, you could use this as a way to get mirages out of unwanted 3-star gear without paying the decompose fee or needing the requisite crafting skill level?0 -

Ok...Time for the Kitsu to weigh in on this "feature"...Honestly...While I really do not participate or plant to participate in PvP nor care much for it I can say this is a blatantly bad "feature" and I will spell out why very precisely.
1) It adds even MORE disincentive to PvP even if the loss of EXP & Equipment was not a good enough reason. So anyone who may have been considering it before but was borderline is now running away from it whole sale.
2) It lessens the value of Binders which otherwise are very useful for anyone who intends to PvP consistently.
3) It adds even more expense and pain for the lower levels on PvP Servers who get One Shotted by high levels as a constant theme. They really do not need even more of a reason to not want to play on those servers.
4) The above encourages more people to play on the PvE servers which are already crowded and thus congestion and server side lag becomes a problem.
5) It does not "add" anything to the game play. It is just a flat-out punishment for Losing in PvP. It practically encourages more high levels to kill any lower levels they can find in PvP in order to grab all the Mirages as if getting their equipment on occasion was not good enough. Now it could be well worth it as a high level PvP'er to sit out at spots where fresh low levels come and farm them for Mirages. (Sorry if I just gave them the idea and they had no figured it out already...) It discourages ever battling in PvP that may be close or reasonably fair because you might...LOSE...and then you can be punished for losing even more than before.
So that is what I see...Believe what you will of course but I think the GM's should negotiate with the Devs about removing this bad egg before it rots and gets even worse.0 -
umm, do you ppl read?eatwithspoons wrote: »As I said yesterday, our people here did some additional testing of this feature to re-confirm the data listed in the patch notes. Here are the results:
1) Playing with Safety Lock completely off will still have the always-present low chance to drop an Item when PKed. Shatter chances are shown below.
The percentage that an item will shatter upon being killed in PVP (Safety Lock OFF):
White and Pink name players = 0%
Light Red players = 1%
Red players = 2%
Dark Red players = 3%
This has been consistent with our testing.
2) Playing with Safety Lock on and "faction/white name/all" unchecked will not let you drop your items, but the original safety lock features still apply, meaning your NPC interactions will be limited. The chance to have items shattered is increased as shown below.
The percentage that an item will shatter upon being killed in PVP (Safety Lock ON):
White and Pink name players = 1%
Light Red players = 2%
Red players = 3%
Dark Red players = 4%
This has been consistent with our testing.
3) Playing with Safety Lock on and only "faction/white name" checked still retains the increased chance to have items shattered, items will not drop, and your NPC interactions will be limited. Same percentage as the above data to my knowledge:
The percentage that an item will shatter upon being killed in PVP (Safety Lock ON):
White and Pink name players = 1%
Light Red players = 2%
Red players = 3%
Dark Red players = 4%
This has been consistent with our testing.
4) Playing with Safety Lock on and "faction/white name/all" checked yields the same results as above. Increased chance to have items shattered, items will not drop, and your NPC interactions will be limited.Same percentage as the above data again.
The percentage that an item will shatter upon being killed in PVP (Safety Lock ON):
White and Pink name players = 1%
Light Red players = 2%
Red players = 3%
Dark Red players = 4%
This has been consistent with our testing.
Conclusions
With a white or pink name and Safety Lock off you should not be able to have items shatter in PVP, other percentages are listed above. With safety lock on the white and pink named players will have a 1% chance to have items shattered, increasing as shown above. Without Safety Lock on you will still have the low chance to drop an item as a white name.
If something has happened that is not consistent with our results, and you are 100% positive that your settings were correct(meaning your SL didn't expire without you noticing), please send a ticket to customer service via our website.
The only people with a chance of getting shattered gear are pkers and people who abuse the safety-lock feature, and thats still a freaking low percentage, highest percent is 4.... so you would have to die 25 times to be almost guarenteed for one piece of your equipment to shatter (which im sure the safety-lock was intended to protect against hackers or someone getting your account info). Plus, this system rewards pkkers (player killer killers xD) we get drops from the pkers who have all their eq bound, or carry around dolls!! Btw, binding charms still do what they are meant to, protect items from being DROPPED. So to all you rpkers (random player killers) who fly around killing lowbies non-stop out there who are QQing about this newly implemented system, think of this, pvp is now more of a risk, its more exciting, more realistic, its kill or be killed for you guys, and everyone else who isnt a pker and is QQ learn to read, you white names have a ZERO percent chance of anything being shattered.
--EDIT-- For the people considering finding a way to abuse this new system for cheap mirages:
Good Luck! First you will have to get one character to be blood red with safety-lock on to get the 4% chance, then you have to buy a full set of gear (i was actually going to try on a lvl 30 character of mine and the set of gear from the merchant cost 50k right there), next you have to kill the character ~25 times for ~one piece to shatter, but you are not even guaranteed that you will get even one mirage stone to drop, you have a chance of crappy chi stones.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks XRipetidex for the awesome sig!

But just because you had one piece of gear shatter early in (say) the 4th death, that doesn't mean you're immune to shatter until the 25th death. You can have multiple pieces of gear shatter amongst those 25 deaths. If you factor that in, the average number of pieces of gear which will shatter in 25 deaths is 1.00 as the OP implied.
That is, the chance of you getting through those 25 deaths without any gear shatter is exactly balanced out by the chance of having 2, 3, 4, or more pieces of gear shattered.0 -

Dude, dont get your info from just 1 place.
1:st, 3 or 4% is hardly any diffrence.
2:st, Im PRETTY sure its higher due to me and more then 5 of my friends are having HUGE problem with shattered items all the time, so Im PRETTY sure its more then 3-4%, whatever they say. more like 20% or more >_>

The people who are running Perfect World International obviously are NOT looking at our econemy there. Most of the players below lvl 70 are broke and have no coins to afford such things as 12 mirage stones let alone buy spells and things that are necessary such as new equipment. Being a PvP server, It should be FUN to Pk and not cost anything but risk of loseing equipment if not properly dolled, But now me and my fellow pkers have not ONLY the risk of losing equipment, But not the risk of shattering it and having to pay 300k to fix it too? What is Perfect World coming to?!?! Now a majority of the terrifying pkers that all the noobs hate but young pkers look up to may stop pking because of this aweful new "upgrade". without pkers the PvP servers would be bland and boreing. Honestly, what on earth is the use of a PvP server without pkers? Guess what? There isn't.0

that blue wall of text basically says that they ruined the pk system and i couldn't agree more
until now i was facing people with angels that never lost anything and they didn't get anything from me since my gear is bound (im 9x)
now they changed the rules in such a way that i still cannot get anything from those people that keep using angels but i'm eligible to get screwed big time (i can't even imagine why would i have to come up with maybe 20 mirages or so if i die once)
so long mass pvp, have fun seing people dueling inside safe zone on a pvp server
and one more thing : GIVE ME THE OPTION TO UNBIND MY GEAR

now you changed the rules i want it back as simple as thatmeow?
