    advice to fledgling archers:
Going sage is like drunken sex, at first she may look good, but when you wake up the next morning; you'll look at her and go WHAT HAVE I DONE.

    What pets would you suggest?

I put Strong, Protect, and Claw on an Eldergoth Marksman - Very happy with it, but don't feel Strong is necessary. It lacks the aggro holding of when it had 2 aggro skills.

I put Claw on a L2 Scorpion -Very happy again. Probably not so useful until you start doing higher level stuff like FF, OHT (Array Sentries), Public Quest, etc.

I put Reflect on a Kowlin -Fail. Sold the Kowlin: they're worthless other than for the free debuffs they come with. Kowlin can't take the hits to make Reflect worth it.

I put Protect, Strong, and Reflect on a Celestial Plumpfish. I'm happy with it but would caution against it. A legendary or super buffed fish just doesn't find enough use to make it worth it.

I tried Sacrifice on an Eldergoth Marksman -Fail. If you get this skill and aren't a heavy PvPer: sell it. Your pet has almost no HP after using it and doesn't even do the dmg of one of your mag hits.

I've considered Strong and Claw on an Ethereal Inamorato, but fail to find a justification for it other than making Harpies in FF a bit easier to solo. You can also grind some air mobs from the ground, but not sure that's practical. It's not a great tanker compared to a Marksman or Sharpshooter so equipping it to range tank seems a waste.

I hate seeing those rare skills wasted, and hope others can learn from my stupid mistakes (reflect on Kowlin or otherwise weak phys tank). I'm not even sure it's worth it on the plumpfish either. Herc can take much more of a beating which makes it practically the only great candidate for it. The best way to get the skills and try them is to get a Nix or Herc. I'd sell the skills to get them if I didn't have the already.
