I just bought a mac for college, and I've been doing the research on whether a crossover would work, or if boot camp would work.

And as far as my knowledge goes, boot camp is more than likely the best way to go. So far, no crossovers have successfully made a way for Perfect World to Work, and many recommend you do not use it for now, but check back after updates etc.

So as far as successfully running PWI on a mac, boot camp is the best option. Boot camp will split some memory into a "other" hard drive and you install windows onto this piece of memory. ((and you can add, or subtract later, as well as remove this "other" drive completely))

Now this does mean that you will have to purchase Windows, or if you have a copy laying around the house is good too.

But as far as research goes, this does not harm the Mac's hard drive, you can reverse it later (Which I will do to an extent when I get an external for space), and you get to play a game you love!

Woohoo!! So far, so good! NO CRASHES! NO LAG! And I'm using mac to play this!

Saiena, are the icons (i.e. items, skill buttons) displaying correctly when using PW in bootcamp? How about the world map, is it displaying properly?

    Thanks in advance.

do i need to buy the windows(vista,xp etc...) install disk to run through boot camp before being able to play pw thrugh my mac?

Yes, you will need to purchase a copy of Windows.

Yessss I had a feeling the characters of the language might be the problem. All the files are read as "boxes" instead of language characters.

Now the problem is... how would I go about fixing that so my Mac can read those characters? Something I have to download?

...and PS TYVM darth for you're assistance with this issue, if I can get this figured out I'd love to make a post on exactly how to get this up and running for Mac users considering I've been fussing with it for a while now lol

I have a macbook that's about a year old. I use bootcamp for games, and PWI runs perfectly, although it's only playable on lower graphic settings (onboard graphics card :().
Is boot camp a web site that you can run PW off of? How and were do I get the stuff I need to run PW on my mac?

    Thank you in advance

Boot Camp is a program that comes with your Mac. So far it is the only thing I know to run Perfect World with little problem although I haven't been able to test that.

In order to run it you will need to purchase a Windows CD.

YouTube has some really great tutorials on how to use the program, you can just type in "Boot Camp Tutorial" in the YouTube search and you should be good to go.

Try setting all your graphics to low (just click on "Settings" at the game launcher).

Another problem that could arise is when there are new updates for the client. Solution: go to "Manage Bottles" at the Crossover games menu -> then go to "Advanced" -> "Open C: Drive in finder" -> then look for the folder where you installed the game.

After locating the folder, go to the "Launcher" subfolder and run the launcher.exe file [Thus enabling the update of your game client]

    Remember,
    1. graphics settings to a minimum
    2. run the launcher.exe in order to update (if unable to update from shortcut created by installation)

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for vacation traveling through Europe and Asia.

Hope everything works out. And please let me know when you're able to play the game. I'm on Sanctuary server by the way. I'm almost lvl 90 purely played on Mac.
