Yes, they are two different builds. But you argued for a robe mage using both, saying they would have higher hp (con mage) AND that they would have higher damage and higher magic defense (pure int). I simply wanted it clarified which kind of robe mage you were supporting against the light armor mage build.

Also, I'm only talking about mages. I thought we were arguing over mage builds, not armor in general >_>

You were referring to your light armor werefox, so I assumed it was anything but another mage. Also the 50 int would add more damage because of the magic multiplier, which isn't known. The defenses are minor but still there. Given the archer would have maybe 100-300 more health but that isn't alot when you have 6k health. Also I'm supporting my hybrid mage build which is a mix between those 2 builds. I hope that clears it up.

Yes, but the difference is, a light armor werefox follows the same build as a light armor mage, while an archer is altogether different.

But meh. I'm done. I've proved my point. Enjoy your mage when CB opens.

The WF doesn't have the extra 100% (150%) added physical defense though now does it?

    Blargh. Okay, let's continue this.

We're comparing a mage with a mage. A buff of 100% additional defense isn't going to change anything, because both mages have the same buff.

I only threw in a mention of my werefox so I could see how Int affects base defense. A mage with the same build and same stats would most likely have the same base defense, so it was used as a reference point seeing as how I don't have a light armor mage to check defenses with.

Either way, as long as the base defenses match, buff skills and such don't matter because they are both the same class and thus have the same skills.

There really isn't anything else to discuss :p

Also I'm not going mage haha. I have a high level mage on PH and I've decided to roll something else on this server.

That's pretty amazing, because I'm not going mage either.

So basically 2 people who aren't going to play a mage just had a 3 page discussion about builds =.=

Somehow, reading through the argument, I don't think there was a conclusion. Which build was it that was able to deal the best damage? Pure int?

Well if you have pure int then you will obviously have more damage :p

    It depends on playstyle really;

    Light Armor
    - More physical defense unless the robe user has jeweled armor
    - More HP unless the robe user adds con, which would make them near identical health.
    - 5% more crit rate

    Robes
    - More damage
    - More Magic defense
    - Faster cast rate

Uh, yes. Pure int is the best damage. The argument was never about which build was better for damage or whatever, it was just over whether or not a robes user could match a light armor physical defense and whether or not a light armor could match a robes user defense with necklace/waist adorn alone. It's pretty pointless, so pay it no mind.

Well, Koz, light's critical could result in double damage more often. That means it could deal the better damage. Anyways, I guess I'll use that halfpure build I recently tried on MY.

Well, +5% double damage would come out to 10% additional average damage. A pure int build would definitely have more than 10% more magic attack than a light armor. So speaking purely in terms of dps, robes would do better. But in pvp, when spike damage matters more, I personally would prefer the additional crit.

Yeah. On pure Int, I guess the critical hits in TW are that much more special and awesome :D

I'm sorta wondering if building with Str (1) , Con (1) , Int (6) and Dex (2) every 2 lvls until dex is 60 is good. Then I'd switch to Str (2) Con (1) , Int (7). I'm a horrid, horrid n00b, so any help would be appreciated...

Building with 2 con, 1 str, and 6 int every two levels is a very decent build for survival, and still does good damage. You can switch to pure later on in your PW life if it suits you to be more pvp based.
