He got a text from her admitting the crime, also he can get a report saying he got a keylogger on his machine and maybe even find out to whom the data was sent, etc. I think he has a good chance on proving he hasn't willing account sharing. I can see he was victim of a unstable person, it's the best think I can think about someone who does this kind of ****.

It wouldn't take much technology at all to determine where the keylogger was sending its captured data. Do not underestimate the cyber-forensic tools law enforcement have. If you knew what they can do you would freak out.
If most people knew the trails they left on the internet through regular use, they'd probably shut it off. samurai-37.gif

I know. I know this is a tad off topic but our local police department has a system which has access to a national database that contains every text, photo, post to social media, every website, etc. accessed from an IP address (which is directly linked to the ISP and physical address and/or GPS location of the sender). This software analyzes the content of the data it collects and generates a threat level assessment of a person. This happens within minutes when a police officer receives a call regarding a domestic violence, violence against a child, suicide, and other threats of violence including protestors etc. and this information with the threat assessment is sent to the terminal in the police cruiser before they arrive on the scene. This information is supposed to provide law enforcement information about the background of the individual. They also use it to negotiate with.

San Diego uses the same system. They recently had protests from political opponents of the system so they compromised and no longer have the system generate the threat assessment but provides all the other information.

Many smart TVs hooked into the internet have mics and some have cameras which can be activated remotely. Color laser printers print patterns of invisible yellow dots that are actually embedded metadata in the document designed to allow government to determine the printer's serial number, time, date, file title, etc. for tracking purposes. Then there is all the metadata generated by every digital camera in the images. every image uploaded onto the internet is saved in a government server. Google, facebook, and the like are the world's largest data collection centers for people worldwide. Cellphones and most new cars these days send data to servers which allow government to know every place you have been. Every transaction you make with a credit/debit card is recorded. They know what you purchase.

Oh and remember the TOR app? it was designed to hide a person's internet activity behind proxies to conceal the activity. LOL! That was created by DARPA. Just like the internet itself. Most encryption software out there has built in back door access for government. Apple resisted when the government tried to force a back door access to the Iphone however the government found a way in anyway.

Needless to say it wouldn't take much for law enforcement to determine where the key logger was sending data too. But as I stated the OP received a message from his ex essentially confessing to it. Pretty much a moot point anyway. HE really should secure his data better.

I am well aware of what can be traced, and how easy it is. The thing is, this guy admitted to saving a file on his computer with his info. Which tells me, that he isn't the sharpest cookie in the drawer. So, the story about finding a keylogger AFTER people said it was a dumb thing to keep a file with his info, makes me think he is lying about the keylogger, and everything else.
He shared his account, or his account was accessed because of that file.

Yes, i have the file but it was my guess that she found the file or used a keylogger. After getting messages from people that i have to look if there is keylogger, i went for it.

Everyone is going at this guy when he's correct so many people openly account share. Just to give a hint there is a "Strong" sin on Dawnglory originally from harshlands. He obnoxiously and blatantly account shares on most of his videos on youtube using multiple other peoples accounts to buff him which obviously have no players of their own. PWI is so unbalanced in how they handle situations it's ridiculous. This guy MAY of shared one account info and meanwhile others have up to 7 logged at same time to buff for pvp at sp ggwp. Just as a hint the name ends with xhl2 lol.

3 accounts on my own domain. One with my full name, one with my preferred name, and one with my alias.
3 accounts on my old ISP, same layout.
4 accounts on my current ISP, but one is a throwaway that I'll be deleting soon so I don't really count it.
5 gmail accounts for various game aliases. I also use these whenever I think I'll be getting spam from somewhere. Only three actually get used regularly though.
I've also got two at work, but I don't count them because they only get used at work.

Well over 25 years of gaming, and alpha-beta testing half the MMO's and PC games out there tends to build up a few identities. It's easier to keep them separate when they have their own emails. I have a different personality for each type of character I play, and they each have their own little worlds.

    Back on topic......
Hopefully we'll be able to get this resolved for the OP; but at the same time, I'm not holding my breath. I've dealt with support on a few issues similar to this, and it's really 50/50 as to what their final response will be. I have one guy who literally had two accounts banned like this. He got one account back, but not the other.

After making another ticket about my problem, had a little conversation going on with GM, but later when i provided extra information there is 1 week silence from GM. Even asked if they got any update about my problem, which i did 3 times during this week. Felling really upset why i get this kind of attitude, i was rally keen in support tickets, providing information and so on and still nothing.

@herbage, you should never send multiple messages across the week, this causes your ticket to be pushed back on their log.
Just wait for a reply, if it takes longer than 3-5 business days (or however long they say it is now), then you should try to message again, but never 3 times during the same week.

The BBB is almost next to useless. The only thing they can really do is act as a mediator and thats about it. Plus they work like the boutique in game. You can buy your business a better grade.
While mostly true, they do have a pretty good track record of getting companies to do the right thing. Within reason of course.

EDIT: After actually taking the time to read the wall, I edited the text to most people will actually read it. It is a real issue, and I've seen it happen quite a few times over the past couple of years. (Usually the culprit is either actual account sharing, or really stupid passwords.)

@herbage Send me a PM via Arc (link is in my sig). I may be able to assist you with that somewhat, but will need details that cannot be posted here.

I can second on the efficacy of the BBB. Filing a complaint with the BBB got my ticket escalated and I was able to explain my reasons and they resolved my problem in a satisfactory manner. You will need to explain your situation very carefully because they do not generally give TOS violations the benefit of the doubt.
