So i have been out of town and haven't logged on to neverwinter in 4 days. I just got home and i logged in to neverwinter and i get a tell from a friend. I go to respond and i get told that i have been silenced and can chat again in 23 hours, 18 mins, and 4 seconds. How is this possible ? How do i get muted when i haven't been logged into the game for over 4 days?!? How do you get reported for spam when you aren't even in the game?! This chat system needs to be fixed and i know many other people who have had the same thing happen to them... I think we need some kind of resolution to this please!
Riiiiight. People have been complaining about this broken system since early after Champions Online launched in 2009. Official responses in that game and Cryptic's other game, Star Trek Online(once people started abusing it there too) have been "working as intended and no change coming."
Suddenly, they're "looking into it"? I call bull. Please stop tossing out canned responses.
Well I'm behaving myself, dont have a stupid name, don't spam etc. And im content with this system atm. Maybe this changes If I would be silenced in Chat without having done anything. Noone can say thou if all these people here complaining really are victims or indeed spammers scammers and rude folk :P

But that's just it. Such power should not reside in our hands. Four years now, this broken chat "feature" has been abused. Three different games. Those of us asking reasonably for change aren't saying just get rid of it...no. Take the 24 hour mute out. Remove the automation of it and let game mods and admins hand out mutes. Leave in the ignore part, simply because yes, we should have the choice to "turn off" things that annoy us.
And the kicker is....Cryptic designed a game that had an ignore feature and it worked just fine. City of Heroes. Now that the game's closed, perhaps the chat code can be "borrowed"? Bet it could work here with a little tweaking.

Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.

Those Chat mutes are there for a reason. You fudged up and now you dont like the ramifications of what happened because of it.
