BTW I initially thought the quests were randomly picked out of qualifying missions (by rating or whatever). Personally I would have preferred it this way as it spreads the plays around.
You could pretend the player is moving to a different area in the world. For example go to a tavern talk to a sailor. Next map is an interior map where you're on a ship and you talk to NPCs. Next maps take place on some continent far far away. All these maps are ones that you build yourself.
Short Answer: You are restricted to just building an "adventure" Long Answer: Try not to think of the Foundry as a modding tool but as a mission authoring tool. Everyone will play on the same server (no mods to choose from) and everyone will have access to all the missions created by Foundry authors. Don't forget that…
In STO no voice overs are added, but there will be an additional reward given at the end of the mission if you're playing a spotlight. Not sure if it's always given or if its a daily reward (it's not implemented yet)
One thing I've found is that players are extremely creative in ways to "game" the system in order to get loots. If you ask the Foundry community right now about exploits you'll find them to be quite pessimistic about the ability to stop them
I'm not familiar with CEP but here are some of the things from the STO Foundry A lot also has to do with not using characters that are licensed properties, for example you won't be allowed to create Drizzt and add him as a character in your story. Note that mentioning him is OK Basically this. gillrm is pretty accurate…
Zorbane reporting in! Working on the STO Foundry challenge :) If you guys don't know what that is, they've been running a Foundry contest over at STO pretty regularly. Authors are given a vague outline and six weeks to work on a project. After that there's three weeks for people to play all the missions and vote for their…
Ya people will make them regardless of what safeguards Cryptic tries to put into place. I think most of us aren't losing any sleep over them, it's just kind of annoying and part of the MMO experience  As for what kind of quests I'll make...I'll probably start off simple to figure out the system before doing…
FYI right now (from a Foundry author's perspective) there's been a large number of farming missions created which have become quite popular. Even ones where high level space ships are set to not fire back and players can shoot them down with ease to acquire the lootz. I don't know if Cryptic is going to respond to this or…
I'm a regular STO player. You definitely do not need to pay to be able to play. I bought a lifetime subscription and haven't paid a dime since. Some of the paid ships are a little bit more powerful than ships you can acquire for free but unless you're a min-maxer or hardcore pvper the difference isn't that big. If you have…
May be an ESRB (or your country's equivalent) thing. No swearing in game content etc etc I'm not sure (not very good at languages other than English) but I think I've seen German* swearing though so that option is open *all knowledge of German curse words is based on WWII movies and video games
I found it years ago when Microsoft tried to make comic book style heroes for all of its software. It's pretty much disappeared from the internet now, all I could find is a "newer" version - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/aa740358.aspx I picked Visual Studios guy because I use it at work lol
If Astral diamonds are anything like Dilithium in STO they won't be tradable, therefore no way for gold farmers to sell it. If people wanted to use money to acquire astral diamonds they could purchase Zen from Perfect World and trade it for astral diamonds through an in game "Astral Diamond Exchange". EDIT: To clarify by…
Well you could also not leave a rating, but then you don't leave a review all together. When the review pop up appears you just close it...don't think that's what you guys are looking for by "no rating" though!
Hi an update to this thread. There was a recent update in the STO test server where users are now forced to put a rating. Previously it defaulted at 3 and you'd end up with a lot of mysterious 3 stars which are by users who didn't know any better.
