There you go... making sense! Here's another one... will we all lose celestial coins & such for not logging in? To do this on a weekend is also crazy, what's one more day at this point?
Who started this stuff about a wipe anyway? They said at the start there would be no wipes. They would lose a ton of players if they wiped after saying that. If there are exploits, they need to fix them, go after the abusers and call it a day.
Yeah, agreed. Not to mention the stock PvE questing is kinda slim. I figured Cryptic was just being lazy and expected the community to build enough foundry quests to fill in. If they've nerfed the foundry quests, shame on them. So what if some people use/abuse the system? Oh, punish us all for the actions of a few... great.
Thanks for the quick response. I've noticed the profession event pop. When you say 'profession nodes' are you talking about when you send your minions to gather materials or make components?
Thanks muz. I agree on the gear crafting lagging behind the level and that's pretty nuts. It sounds like the skin changes are very slight, so I'll have to watch a bit closer. Oh, and if you check this thread again... can you make the blues w/o cash shop items?
They announced at the beginning of this open beta/soft launch that no one would be wiped. Basically, this is a somewhat buggy release state that they will tweak over time. Probably for a cash shop grab, which Cryptic is known for.
I've been doing Mailsmithing & Leadership as well. The gear crafting is pretty broken... average drops are way better than anything you can craft. Does crafting allow a better looking skin though? Every piece I get seems to look the same (or very close) on my Cleric. I'm a level 25.
And they probably have, quite a bit, I bet. While that's not good business, the major problem is a consumer that's willing to part so easily with his/her money.
But you also have the choice of not paying. So no matter what they (or anyone) calls it, it's still a choice. As far as problems, there will be quite a few for awhile, just the nature of the beast.
Your rationalization for not buying is flawed. ALL MMO launches have been messy to differing degrees (IMHO, worst = Conan, best = GW2, but even it had problems), give it a week or so and then decide. BTW, that isn't a call to buy anything, I'm waiting myself to see.
Companies bring servers online slowly. The beginning surge won't last and they don't want to be stuck with over capacity (SWTOR, talking to you! lol) So the simple answer is "no".
Sorry, can't feel bad for them at all. If they didn't do any research before plunking down their $60 (or for heaven's sake $200!!!), then shame on them. $60 is the going price for a class A title, not a "F2P" game. A little looking would have revealed this is typical PW & Cryptic policy... duh. As far as cash shop…
A little research and reading before plunking down your money might have saved you this regret. Cryptic is known for such things, so don't expect things to change just because you gave them $60. You can spend your money any way you want but paying $60 (let alone $200) for an unfinished 'free' mmo? Hmmm... the old P.T.…
Honestly, some never come out of it really. They might declare it at some point though. Typically, when you only see a few bugs or issues, it's done. This game will probably need a lot of time to iron things out, being it's Cryptic & all.
Nope, you only get what it states. To expect (hope?) more is irrational. Cryptic & PW are going to squeeze every penny they can out of the F2P game before it goes live and becomes just another F2P game. You are talking about spending a whole lot of money for a F2P with nothing but digital items. That's crazy, imho, but to…
@ epoc3000... You buy your way in with the $59 or $200 package. It's the only sure way. However, you might get lucky with a giveaway, when/if they start those. I have a PCGamer code to get in, but they haven't said when for those folks.
Generally in these types of games, special items/bonuses aren't given out until the game actually launches (after all betas). I agree though, it should be spelled out in advance. This is typical of Cryptic communication, as it is near non-existent. Many other devs have the same issues, it would be nice if they spent a…
