At level 40 I wouldn't concern myself with gear. Once you hit level 60 any gear you found up until then is immediately obsolete. I don't recall any D&D references to gnomes really. I think they more or less filled that niche with halflings. Also the moonshae druid seems to be more on par with a leprechaun from what I have seen of him.

Go to a friend who has also played neverwinter. then go to compare games. find neverwinter and click on it. it will show both of your times played. Worth noting that I often find the time xbox states is different than time I find on timers from the game itself. No idea why but its usually not off by that much.

Leadership in comparison to all of the other professions you mentioned is table scraps in comparison. Primarily due to how much longer it takes to level to max level than most of the other professions and the less profitable rewards from it. Haven't looked into alchemy enough to really agree or disagree.

Didn't see it in the patch notes so I would assume its still broken. maybe try removing the item you are wearing in that slot to see if then its smart enough to compare that equipped by your companion. if not then its time to pull out the pen and paper lol.

Just use the auction house. trade item for item if you're going to use the trade system. don't loan items. You will never get scammed.

I sell pants for 100 to 200k depending on the day. So if you want to rake in tons of Astral Diamonds with little to no risk then get one to 20 and start crafting items people need.

As far as I am aware it is only available through the zen store. It may also be worthwhile to hang onto the druid until it becomes a little more scarce and then sell it when the prices rise a little bit.
