I noticed I was getting low frames with a GTX 670m and found that the game for some reason was taking me out of fullscreen mode and into windowed maximized and that was killing my fps. Next time you have this issue look to see if you are windowed maximized mode and change it to fullscreen and see if that helps.

Good thing they are cheap. You can get just the dongle for $8-$15 on Amazon and I got a new black 360 controller with the dongle for less than a new 360 controller alone would usually cost a little less then a year ago off Amazon.
