  • So the reason you don't like the new guard is... it doesn't clang? Sound and knockback aren't important to performance. I agree they should be added, but I have been discussing the performance of the GF. If we didn't get improvements in nearly every other aspect of the GF, yes I would complain about the new block. With…
  • Block may only reduce damage by ~90% (...that's still excellent), but the increased move speed, longer duration, greater HP, increased responsiveness, ability to interrupt, and faster regen make up for it several times over. If you're unhappy with it, I suggest doing more testing on preview. I love it. Now you have a lot…
  • Pretty much every boon with a cooldown isn't very useful. Madness was only good because it wasn't working correctly. They could do with improvements.
  • Was doing some testing. FYI, I'm not very good at, or have any gear for pvp: - The 80% block is perfectly fine now that it's fixed. You basically have ~90% DR while blocking, and it seems to last much longer than before. Also much more responsive. Just be careful interrupting your attacks. Took a while to get out of the…
  • Keep in mind that many of the changes still haven't hit preview yet, so it is difficult to judge them. I would be surprised if KV and ItF are not nerfed slightly after we test them. With the mod4 changes, every GF build is better. Any GF that doesn't want these changes either hates that they can no longer brag about being…
  • Makes sense. I was really just curious where in the equation the reflect occurred. 15% before reduction just makes it that much more awesome. Edit: You've got me thinking though, does the reflected damage benefit from Mark? -20% DR, combat advantage?
  • Can you clarify this? Let's say a GF has 50% DR. It blocks a 20k damage attack. Block reduces it to 4k damage, and DR brings it down to 2k (or the other way, DR reduces to 10k, and block to 2k). At which point does the reflected damage occur? 20k, 10k, 4k, or 2k? How I understand your post, it sounds like it is reflected…
  • Holy @#$%. A protector feat GF using KV, Into the Fray, and Guarded Assault seems absolutely insane now. Add Iron Warrior and Shield Talent for more stamina and it seems you could just sit and watch the world explode around you. I really can't wait to test this... AND the huge buffs to all the offensive powers. Wouldn't be…
  • I primarily play PvE, skewing my opinion. Admittedly, 10% heal for 15 hits every 5 seconds isn't very good, but no one likes to consider blatently OP things so I kept it low.
  • I've posted this before, but everyone was obsessing over conq feats at the time. Iron Guard (capstone): When hit, reduce the attacker's damage by 2% for 30 seconds and gain 1 stack of Fortitude. Maximum 10% damage reduction. At 15 stacks of Fortitude, heal for 10% of your missing Hit Points. May only heal once every 5…
  • Can confirm, I'm an idiot. Was looking at the deflection severity instead of crit for 50%, assumed vorpal put that up to 75%. Yeah, this is a huge buff for almost everyone, except for what you've already pointed out. :D EDIT: Should I be keeping my arpen, instead of just relying on the new mark?
  • But that's dull and boring. Why not argue with people on the internet instead of wasting your time waiting :P As far as it being a buff or not, looks like a buff simply because it no longer depends on stamina. Still, I'd love to see some focus on something other than conqueror feats. That'd be nice. Maybe when the stamina…
  • You're forgetting the 10% bonus to crit chance. Here's the numbers for several different crit% and crit severity. I'll assume your damage numbers are correct. Live, 5100 damage, 50% severity: 0% crit = 5100 damage 10% = 5355 20% = 5610 30% = 5865 40% = 6120 Live, 5100 damage, 75% severity: 0% = 5100 10% = 5482.5 20% = 5865…
  • Regarding the -20% DR on marked targets for the GF, -8% for party. Does this also apply to targets with the lesser mark (eg: Threatening Rush)? And could the Protector feats please see some buffs alongside the improved stamina. Currently the tree isn't particularly useful.
  • Cut lifesteal by half. Dungeons suddenly harder and require actual strategy. GF is actually desirable (yep, did the impossible). Classes that had mostly relied on DPS to survive (CW, GWF) are not as effective. Wow, it's almost like this single change would make the game substantially better... not saying it's perfect, but…
  • Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was partly due to a fear of botting. Making the GF reasonably tanky could ultimately make them unkillable in certain situations. Running through dungeons with multiple GF might be slow, but time wouldn't be a factor. Also, they have had poor experiences with tanky characters in…
  • Hmm, I was fighting ice giants with the new Mark and seeing the CA highlighting around their entire base. Was using my ioun stone companion. Certain I was alone. Assumed it was working for me and not just allies. If it isn't applying for the GF then yeah that's disappointing.
  • How about this for discussion: If the Block mechanic is removed, what would take its place? Currently most discussion is 'buff block duration', 'use the old block', 'give us 100% DR', etc. Personally, I don't think any changes to block will make the GF a desirable class. So what if it were replaced with something else?…
  • The GF should have a class ability that provides a buff for each member in the party. Could be applied to the party as well. This should make them far more desirable in party activities. Shouldn't apply in PvP. Eg: Defender - Gain 2% damage, healing, damage resist, and max HP for each member in the party. Party members…
  • I've soloed totems using an Iron Vanguard Protector and Swordmaster Tactician feat. Spamming Into the Fray was critical so I could pop Fighter's Recovery almost endlessly and dodge all the AoE. Just over 13k, so likely considerably worse than what you guys are using. Was significantly easier as a tactician. Have also tried…
  • I've run into this a few times on several different builds. Haven't been able to reliably replicate either.
  • The dodge other classes have makes our short range melee attacks ineffective. Misses result in fatal cooldowns. Enemies will simply kite a GF while still dealing damage waiting for stamina to run out, then outright kill them. Severely limits the diversity of viable PvP builds for a GF.
  • Changes I would like to see made to the Protector tree feats. Aims to make a non-DPS/lifesteal GF viable in PvE and PvP. Allows survival and party buff builds. Based on the first PTS iteration of stamina and block, and stays close to the original feats. Might need adjustment if the planned stamina increase occurs. Rank 1:…
  • 80% sounds significant, but it's really only 25% more than just standing there taking the hits. Even with 50% DR and 25% deflect (so roughly 56% effective DR), GF still die very quickly when mobbed. Perhaps a testament to how powerful lifesteal and dodges are for other classes to keep them alive. If GF are going to see any…
  • Fair enough. Why doesn't anyone suggest making it better then? Tie it in with the swordmaster paragon. Add more debuffs. Bam, a legit boss/pvp build for people that like the GF, but don't want to always be aggro machines.
