I'll also add that using Guardian (or Hammer) would be pretty uncommon, since I'll be generally going to Flame Strike for damage and Divine Armor for defense (swapping in Hallowed Ground for Flame Strike on boss fights when running with a good dps group). I always dug 2nd Edition AD&D myself, but any reasonable inference would suggest that a new game would use the most recent rule set for its inspiration. I used an ioun stone in CB, and will probably spring for one once the game goes live. This is assuming I can upgrade it to purple, level it, repackage it (btw, anyone know off hand how much it will cost to repackage a level 30 zen store companion?), pass it to an alt, and have it retain purple/level 30 status.
