Amazingly backward with the elves, isn't it? Moon elves are the most common elven race and they lock them behind $60 while the much rarer sun elves are free. So very odd.
You guys are affirming the consequent with this faulty logic: 1. If beta access requires payment, then paying gets you into the beta. 2. Paying gets me into the beta. 3. Therefore, beta access requires payment. You might as well say: 1. If an animal is a Tyrannosaurus rex, then it is a reptile. 2. My iguana is a reptile.…
I don't know yet. I first want to see what, if any, races/classes will be in the store at launch. Because I would certainly rather save my money for exactly what I want on a modular basis (gnomes, eladrin, bards) rather than spend it on a pack I'd really only appreciate a fraction of. It's very common in the sense that…
I agree with some of that based on what we've seen, but huge damage numbers aren't necessarily for the cheap psychological effect. The bigger the numbers, the more granular the math. We wouldn't do it in tabletop because it needs to be quickly crunchable by average human brains, but in a computer game, why not benefit from…
If there is any kind of faction/reputation system, I would hope that it's negatively affected by riding a giant spider through the city of Neverwinter. I mean, really.
I would agree in many other settings, but religion in the Realms isn't even about faith so much as fandom. The deities plainly exist and you basically treat them like super-politicians. Also, it's a helpful variable for designers to draw on in single-player RPGs, or in this case for Foundry authors to call if they can.
I fervently hope that eladrin and gnomes are available at launch, whether they're free or not--my assumption is that the races on the Races page are the free ones. On the more exotic side, shardminds also have a special place in my heart.
I don't know about a duty officer equivalent, but Jack Emmert recently strongly hinted at a bridge officer equivalent in the form of mercenaries/henchmen at Gen Con.
I've got to say, if they did this because they felt Fighters didn't have enough visual feedback and got lost in the effects of other classes, I'd much rather they tone down the other classes than do this to the Fighter. Whoo boy.
With UGC, good storytelling is even more important to me. As far as I'm concerned, it's all that UGC potentially has to offer over official content, because there are far more stories to tell than there are ways to throw monsters at players.
I hope to help facilitate roleplaying with my Foundry projects. Part of my plan is to spend a lot more time exploring the various cultures, religions, and racial perspectives, than providing enemies to kill. I know, easier said than done. But I find it ideologically necessary. I'll produce that or produce nothing. To try…
I'm shocked to be rated as Neutral. I've always identified as Chaotic Good and seen Neutral as either apathetic with regards to politics and morality or delusional with regards to some idea of cosmic balance.
I've actually been struck positively by the wizard's animations more than anyone else's. I think it's a considerable improvement over the ways I'm used to seeing magic-users animated.
I, too, have seen his Wikipedia article. I don't mean to belittle his ability as a writer or to suggest it couldn't extend to writing for games, that wasn't my point. It just seemed like you were treating as a loss something that was never gained. Also, after the money that was no doubt invested in Star Trek Online's…
Hm. It has usually been that the Forgotten Realms only used the core rules' elf heights for drow, while other elves were of human height. Did I miss a change to that? In the 3.5 FRPG: Human: 4'10" (male) 4'5" (female) +2d10 Elf: 4'10" (male) 4'5" (female) +2d10 Drow: 4'5" (male) 4'5" (female) +2d6 Edit: Well, searched my…
FR doesn't just cut out the eladrin. In-world, moon elves and sun elves are elves, for the sake of consistency of language with the pre-Spellplague Realms. Rule-wise, they are eladrin.
I've been assuming that there will be an eladrin race (to be purchased) to account for the moon and sun elves, mainly because the description on the races page really only applies to the elf race (wood and wild elves). Eladrin are another animal. They don't live in 'heavily wooded areas', aren't exactly 'athletic' in the…
The books never played music for us, so that's pretty subjective, but I'm actually most familiar with him from fantasy games like Majesty, Sacrifice, Redemption, and Wizardry 8. Some of my favorite music back then, although it's quite dated now.
