Don't know how to do it effectively using the disband button (I heard it doesn't work properly). One thing you can do is make an alt, and make it the guild leader. Once you've left the guild with your main, delete that alt (after everyone else has been kicked/removed) and you should be good to go.

Welcome to Neverwinter Jay. There is no major difference between the shards. At launch, Dragon seemed to be the most popular one, followed by Mindflayer, and then Beholder.
