Fixed it for me. I was able to copy the character that was previously blocked. My elemental evil and tyranny of dragons campaigns became un-finished though.

It doesn't crash. At the moment the game has to spawn the first objects (the rocks and the dragon in the background of login screen) it just turns the screen into black and stops responding. Using Windows 7 here. Tried all tricks with safe modes and DirectX juggling, even reinstalled the game over night. Nothing helped and this seems to be 100% graphics driver's fault. I will try updating drivers.
