For defence most GF go for 3.5-4K in pve. You will lose only a bit in resistance. The other advice to go for HP and Arp is good, it will help you a lot with threat.

For the GF i think that a lot of use struggle with survival in a group with mobs. This is even worse in IWD where your shield gets eaten in two/three hits.
