1st and 2nd editions didn't offer any character customization. Don't romanticize the days of yore to the point you leave reality. It's true however that this game doesn't offer the level of customization that 4e does.

I can totally relate to the OP. Sometimes in these games it's the (seemingly) smallest thing that can have a large emotional impact.

Disappointing. I can't believe MMOs are still being released that allow this. At least Rift patched later to fix it.
