I really don't think this is a good change; you are going to get your group killed for miti checks because you cannot give a full duration shield. I really don't think this is a switch that should be made, it is a severe nerf to pallys.

The spider ghosts/aspects in the final boss are still damageable and even killable- TC during an arti call managed to kill the healing one, it stopped a single blue line and even made it play a death animation, rolling over with its legs up in the air. Seemed to have about 1 mil hp. It did not prevent any worthy sacrifice…
