I thought that until I got threatening rush. The aoe mark ability and a gap closer you can spam seems to be a pretty useful skill. I re-spec'd last night and I'm still getting used to having the 2 shield abilities on my at will, but it does seem to work.
I am right there with you. I really don't like when people have the tanking companion out because it screws up both stacking for AOE and directional attacks all the time. However, since most of the groups I'm in are pugs, I don't really feel it's my place to tell them what companion to use. After all, they don't know me…
The aggravating strike (the one with block up) has a threat built in. So it's hard to say which one works better. I think you're right about aggravating strike being tougher to get mobs to line up in. Maybe I'll try them both and see what happens. And I agree on Fighter's Recovery, I just had it because I wasn't using…
Nice. For some reason when I first read about Into the Fray, I didn't like it. But now I see where it could be huge. I'm definitely going to be switching that around. I also like the idea of Tide of Iron and Threatening Rush, I've just been afraid of losing out on the easy AOE from Cleave, but I've been missing the guard…
No, I'm not. I think I already stated that dps needs to switch to adds and burn them down. What I'm stating is that many groups I have been in, the cleric never stops moving and totally disregards someone trying to kill or get adds off them. Healing is difficult in this game, but it's a team effort. I have 2 aoe skills I…
I wasn't suggesting standing in one place, I was more commenting on constant movement even as I try to chase them down and pull mobs off. Of course Clerics need to move to get out of damage and use defensive abilities. But running away from the tank trying to get aggro off you is not going to be helpful.
Most of the issues I have seen (playing a tank that likes to keep aggro) are caused more by the zerg mentality than actual aggro mechanics. Given the opportunity to start the fight (very rare), I am normally able to keep nearly everything on me for most of the fight. I also watch the healers and try to save some AOE threat…
