  • The game has only been out a couple of weeks and, for the most part, it has been in a more playable state than many MMOs are at launch. That said, the exploits, if they are all real and can be confirmed by Cryptic, are a concern. And I would be all for a full wipe, putting us all back at square one.
  • lol...that's cute. Welcome to the world of MMOs. If this is the worst launch you've experienced, you're obviously fairly new to them!
  • This made me laugh.
  • My hope is we'll see a lot more classes. The only way they can really get away with keeping the classes as limited as they are right now (ie...no true customization of powers/feats) is if they go back to the 1st Edition model and put in a class for every occasion.
  • Definitely not living up to its potential. It completely ignores the traditional D&D character classes and systems. The classes feel like very limited forms of the traditional MMO classes, sans any talents/feats. They try to offer customization by putting in minor traits that you can purchase as you level, but those don't…
  • Never rely on a wiki. That is just a list put together by a fan based on his own perceptions/desires.
  • Battle Cleric Archer Ranger 1st Edition Bard (You old timers know exactly what I mean).
  • This is a tough one for me. In most MMOs we do have the Holy Trinity, and 4E seems to have been built with the Holy Trinity in mind, but I really, really do not feel like it belongs in D&D. Imagine the scene: DM: "The orc swings an axe at Fred the Fighter, slicing through his breast plate and cutting into his side. Fred,…
  • They've made it clear lately that the game is not tied to any edition, drawing inspiration from every edition previously released. Obviously, 4th Edition converts better to the CRPG/MMORPG format, so they are drawing their classes primarily from that, but I REALLY, REALLY wish they would go back to the old 2nd Edition…
  • It seems like we have two groups here. Group A wants to see NW follow the 4E rules a little more closely and give us the ability to customize our characters. As in real customization. As in, playing a Fighter, not just a Guardian Fighter or a Great Weapon Fighter. Group B is concerned that any change to the existing system…
  • I'm hoping the character wipe is evidence that we will see some reworking of the build/class relationship. I realize it may have nothing to do with it at all, but a guy can hope, right?
  • I think I'd prefer a point buy system. I'll be the first to admit that I could sit there for eight hours straight trying to get the perfect roll for the character I am creating. Hence, a true "random roll" system would be more painful than anything else, imho.
  • Thank you! Been trying to figure this out for the past thirty minutes myself! Definitely need a tooltip in game explaining that!
  • Personally, I'd like to see some free form classes made available. Treat it like the customizable character slots in CO and let us customize our fighters, clerics, whatever, as we see fit, the way D&D has always been meant to be played. I won't lie...I don't know much about 4th Edition. My experience with D&D does go back…
  • I'm planning on a half-orc cleric, myself. From the hints being dropped there will be enough attribute bonuses later in game that I probably won't be gimping myself, but if not...well, I'd rather find out in beta. =)
  • I did indeed! Shame on me!
  • You mean I can't play a multi-class Kensai/Illusionist whose loaded down with proficiencies from my 1st Edition Dungeoneer's Survival Guide? =( On a serious note, I truly hope this game turns out to be well designed and ends up with a fair amount of flexibility in actual character creation down the road. 4E is an…
  • It also looks like the $60 pack doesn't come with a small bag of holding, unlike the other two packs. I suspect that all packs include everything from the packs beneath them, since that is usually how these things work. But they need to clarify this. Even though I have no interest in the $200 pack, the reality is, a lot of…
  • I've never played 4E, but having played D&D for almost thirty years now I can tell you that rangers have changed a great deal. There was a time when they could wear full plate and cast magic-user spells. In 2E they started making the transition to a "Drizzt" model for rangers and by 3E they came to the realization that a…
