If having items in the Gear Appearance labeled as inventory items messes up the game's performance, then just change it. Have it "labeled" similarly to the Mounts, Companions, and Fashion items. Because as far as I see, you can have every Mount, Companion, and Fashion item in this game and it won't hinder it's performance.
