The cool thing about F2P is... If I get bored with 5 classes I can stop playing and come back when there's more without having to pay a dime :) Never understood people's "All or nothing" attitude when it comes to MMOs. But I guess it is nice to see people practicing monogamy in at least one way.
It's fairly obvious what they're doing with classes. So it's fairly obvious the Battle Cleric is coming sooner or later. Patience is a virtue. You should be glad knowing the Battle Cleric probably has a higher priority than a lot of other people's favorite classes, too. People who like barbarians, druids, etc. are likely…
I never played an elf before but when the archer class is released, I'm going full Legolas for the hell of it. And just to make it even more glorious, I'll try to get my character's appearance as close to Orlando Bloom as possible. Hopefully the archer class has Shield Surfing as a daily power, as well.
Why the hell would you wanna ride on a giant spider? Anyway, really hope the archer makes it for launch or very, very soon after. I'd love to play an archer class in a MMO and actually have to AIM!
Give me beards or give me death! And not human beards. DWARF beards. Beards that are so magnificent and robust that when they are struck by lightning they strike back.
In the videos topic in General someone posted a video of a dwarf Guardian using an axe. The class description is probably just flavor text. "Trusty longsword" sounds better than "trusty one-handed weapon of your choice". And keep in mind this is "beta" weekend is really just a media event to build hype. Don't expect to see…
It's going to have a cosmetic "transmutation" system- swap the appearance of your equipped armor with any other piece of armor. Unless you're asking specifically about the amount and variety of armor pieces available in the game. In which case you're not gonna get a very good answer from a beta weekend. I doubt gear…
Neverwinter is launching completely free to play. Its success and profitability hinges ENTIRELY on continuous content updates to the game, which obviously the devs have expressed their desire to do many times. And being entirely free to play, if you get bored with lack of content and classes, simply wait until more is…
The difference is... Neverwinter is actually coming out this year. Probably even by the start of summer. ESO is two years away, at least. And will probably be incredibly outdated by then.
I think a bow class is the next given. But I'm not familiar with DnD, just speaking from a gameplay perspective. Is a "leader" class a buffing class? If so it's the one role that's missing so I imagine one will roll out reletively quick, too. A Bard would be pretty interesting with this combat engine. I also think (short…
Ya, its not really the ammount of buttons. Nverwinter seems to use most of the keys I normally bind in an MMO so that's not an issue. The issue would be too long cooldowns and lack of variety. Spamming auto-attack while waiting on CDs isn't action. CDs shouldn't exceed the 5-10 sec range. The long CD "oh <font…
Developers don't talk to the fans, the PR people do. Who just launched a pretty big press event and beta weekend...so I don't understand the complaint
There's two choices: Have fans wait 4 years for a full development cycle and 15 classes Or launch when the core game and classes are ready and add to it over time The second approach is going to be the standard launch procedure for future online games. It works well for both the developer and the players. It both gives the…
A lot of other games talk up their "true action MMO!" but fail to deliver on it. Neverwinter seems to be actual action to me. Granted I haven't played yet but it's obvious just from watching it in action. There's weight, there's a physics system, there's collision detection, you have to aim, block, dodge, etc.
Why are you comparing it to either one? Cryptic always takes a unique approach to character customization and combat compared to other online games. One that most other MMOs can't compete with, to be honest. Neither GW 2 or WoW come close to the customization and combat of Champions. So, this is DND + every MMO Cryptic has…
From the animations that I've seen, I think they're good, but I agree some of them are a bit stiff. What stands out is how each character and action has weight to it and how each skill has definite impact. That already puts animation above most other MMOs. My Greatweapon Fighter is going to have so much fun with the…
Why? GW2 combat in short bursts of PvP is alright but in PvE it gets old FAST. You literally see 90% of what there is to combat by the time you're level 7. And then there's 73 more levels of it. Neverwinter looks more dynamic and mobile to me but I really hope it doesn't goes the "MOBA" route. I thought this was an ACTION…
