I also agree on the appearance issues. I don't have a racial preference, but in town sometimes it looks like there's a clone army when I spy a dozen shabby cleric companions at the altar. I'd really like to see some variation.

It would be nice if there were a grace period within which a player can rename their companion, or even trade it in for a different variety. Let's say, 24 hours and after that you're locked in to paying for any changes henceforth. To me, this seems far more fair and favorable.

I find this troubling as well. I feel like this is not a fun or useful system. Please reconsider identifying all together, but especially the dungeon drops as this is quite problematic.
