I agree about taking their time and trying to get it as right as they can. You know...we were on completely opposite sides of this issue, and yet managed to have a civil and constructive dialog about it. This might just be an internet first. There ought to be a holiday or something named after this... :)
Well my preference was for a new server to be opened without wiping the old so everyone effectively gets their preferred choice. But sounds like that's not 'on the table' either. I'll most likely continue playing casually but I would be surprised if I spend any real cash on this game at this point. And I have maintained…
I wish and hope you are correct. But the fact pattern here includes multiple stories that this bug existed in at least one previous PW game and was reported many times during CB and yet still wasn't fixed. So your faith in this team as a 'modern day mmo' is hard for me to match. So one use case I saw mentioned elsewhere.…
You are pretty much completely wrong in your assessment. The hackers will have long-since laundered their ill-gotten gains to other accounts. No matter how hard the ban-hammering is, a good chunk of that AD will persist in the economy. Without the wipe, they will start new accounts and the currency/gear will find it's way…
Fantastic is a relative point of view. As a non-exploiter who doesn't mind starting over (costing me roughly a week's worth of playtime) as an alternative to playing in a game with an economy that will likely be broken for months or longer due to this exploit, I would use a vastly different adjective. I think Cryptic/PW…
Just saw this on Twitter (sadly): Neverwinter@NeverwinterGame2m @omgitzslashgame I see people saying "wipe" -- do you mean like a complete, beginning-of-time wipe? I can guarantee that won't happen.
Sadly, they are reiterating that a full wipe is off the table. Neverwinter@NeverwinterGame2m @omgitzslashgame I see people saying "wipe" -- do you mean like a complete, beginning-of-time wipe? I can guarantee that won't happen.
People are missing the point. Starting over on a new server should be a choice, not forced. You can keep playing on the current servers with the broken economy forever if you want. Cryptic can merge the old servers together as well as the population inevitably starts to decline. Let everyone who wants no part of the…
Unfrotunately not even close to being that simple. In many cases, the accounts used to perform the exploits will have transferred the ill-gotten gains to other accounts via a variety of means that will be harder to track. And the sheer volume of accounts likely to be involved (easy since registration is free) will make it…
Long term, if enough people get hit with the chat-ban hammer for trolling the channels, they will stop (some only after whining on the forums perhaps). Then it will still be available to deal with chatbotting tradespammers and the rest of us 'humans' will be fine. Yes, there is opportunity for abuse and inevitably some…
Google 'peanut labs scam' and hope you have enough RAM to handle the deluge of results. Honestly, they have been doing these scams for various MMOs for years. Just avoid.
