from their twitters: @NeverwinterGame We are aware of the Foundry issues and are working on a fix. We have disabled UGC for now. For more info please visit ow.ly/E4lG9
Sorry guys, but you are still seeing features coming into the Foundry, while STO waits 'patiently' for them. In other news welcome to where we were at around the time of Season 5 of STO.
Less a flame and more, um no you are getting response time (and responsiveness) I dream of over in STO. I cant tell you the last time something thats broken in that foundry was actually fixed in as short of a time as the 2 fixes you got yesterday. come over to the scifi side and walk in our shoes for a bit, we have…
Ok, I have to say its clear to me that only some of the participants in this thread have ever endured the 'fun' that has been a season update in STO's Foundry. You may think this is bad and 'neglected' but I don't believe I have seen a downtime/major breakage of something last longer than 2 weeks so far. THAT is a pittance…
Player rewards will probably always be a sore spot, from recent experience, it can be highly abused to the benefit of players/guilds and disruptive to the the game itself. I expect the main gripes to be along the lines of the following: 1)cannot set what loads on a particular NPC 2)Cannot modify stats on a particular NPC…
This has always been stated as a goal, one day maybe...I guess it really depends on how things go with the live non beta version, not that I really expect any bells and or whistles to be added from this point forward for a good bit. At most for the near future I think we can safely assume we will see costumes and assets,…
The answer is yes, you can make optional parts of the mission, but there is a catch (isn't there always?) In order to have optional objectives, you have to do it 'off the books.' which means this has to be done outside of the realm of the storyboard. For many this will add a level of complexity and may not work for your…
there really isnt much you can do. Even if you put nice pretty text at the begining that says that you have no control over anything other than the words and some of what you fight, that requires players to actually READ, which in my experience can be the biggest christmas miracle of them all.
I have always held that playing a UGC mission should never be about the 'shinies,' that it should be about experiencing a story crafted by someone else for enjoyment sake. My experience though shows that the definition of enjoyment is very broad and your milage may vary. To be honest I find generally i have more fun making…
Keep in mind that bugfixing is always a matter of triage. Sometimes its just as simple as, 'oops we left a comma off here' other times its 'We have to review 20k lines of code for this little thing, or we could fix this OP great fighter issue that effects everyone' Ive been dealing with Foundry issues for a LONG time, you…
Ive always been so/so when it comes to maps that allow large numbers of players, because of the chances for abuse mostly. Frankly the ability to control the numbers of 'characters' on a map overall would be something I would very much like to see. From my STO experience just being able to limit to 1 character on a map…
I will be very interested in seeing where this thread goes...considering my previous experience with pretty much every item on that list being requested in the past.
To see how badly I can break the Foundry and to explore the game mechanics of the game at large, to better create things in the Foundry when we get 'the live'
Again, let me reiterate something, while you can do all this 'off books' as it were. You are putting an absolutely large amount of faith in people in regards to things like READING what you tell them and comprehending. the sad experience I can relate is that when you give a player an objective that is not spelled out, they…
Here is 'the thing' though. Everything you say should be within the realm of possibility using triggers and such (assuming you dont run into issues with them, like have occurred in STO) But all of this will occur off the storyboard. Speaking from experience, when players start dealing with things that are off the…
The thing you need to consider though is that it is possible in order to protect 'the integrity' of their IP's WOTC could just say no to use of its 'main' characters as even contacts. This is still entirely speculation until such point as a 'concrete' EULA is released.
Here is what I expect 'the deal' to be: Don't expect to be allowed to use copywrite characters in your missions, so do NOT plan on writing your epic 6 part Drittz/Elminster slash fanfic mission, that will likely violate the EULA more then the imagery violated my mind typing it out. Very likely dramatic persona such as that…
