  • Yeah, that's what I mean, why do they do that? It just means all those bad quests that can't be finished or where the author has long since departed get re-published. Which, unless it's changed means that the 'best' list continues being the same 20 quests that were 'the good ones' when the game was first released (give or…
  • Just an Idea, but should authors re-publish their own quests after updates? I don't include featured ones of course. It would seem like a good way to keep the quests current and would save all this downtime malarkey (obviously there is more to it this time, but you know what I mean.)
  • OK! Where to start? I'll break it down: Story What story? It reads like a shopping list. The queen has been taken, go save her, go through the door, get the key, get the shield key, get the other key, get the next key..... no explanation of what I'm doing or why I'm doing it at all really. Why were people helping me? Who…
  • I'm not sure that an already existing game would create enough hype to be honest. Neverwinter foundry had it's chance. Creative people flocked here at one time and most have gone now. Most left for silly reasons too, such as maps and items changing so peoples months of work went down the drain. Then again, there is nothing…
  • Imagine how more in-depth a stand alone game could be too. You could make your own races, clothes/armor, weapons. Wildlife could be so much more varied, the same as building and general architecture. Bosses could have unique skill sets. You could team up with friends to create and explore other peoples maps. Teams of…
  • They should just make a stand alone foundry game in my opinion and go back to the D&D roots (A digital version of the tabletop game). I think the target audience of NW is not in line with the idea behind the foundry. You wouldn't need to worry about loot/rewards then. Which is what holds the foundry back in just about…
  • The Vacuous.... or is that a bit rude...
  • What would you add to The Foundry to attract more authors and incentivize content creation? How would you like to see The Foundry implemented? Timers Bosses and an author tab to let our subscribers know what's going on and a means to advertise like minded authors...
  • Ah good! That works out slightly less well than I would have liked, but at least I get to familiarize myself with the tools again. Thanks for the replys guys! I had really hoped for at least timers.... sigh!
  • No, once the quest is finished and published you can both play, I think up to four players. It's just while you are in the foundry building that it is only solo. Also, I've not been on in a while so it may have changed bur I doubt it.
  • Sounds like The Foundry is the ideal place for you. You can pretty much set up whatever you want and could custom build it for her needs. You don't have to have people play it as to get that it takes work anyway. You could also start teaching your daughter how to build her own things, like a secret cave under a waterfall…
  • Just bare in mind that if you 'can' skip content many players will. It's only really a problem if you want the daily availability. If you do, aim for the combat/traveling to take at least ten+ minutes. That way it will balance out at around 15 mins. If people repeat the quest that will also bring the time down.
  • I have a question about the time limit. Now the goal is for it to be less than 15 mins. Easy enough, but what are the rules surrounding this. I mean, as a contestant what's to stop me playing the other contestants quests and taking my time. One person can really bump up the time no problem with one play. This win I could…
  • Oh no, we don't stand a chance if apocrs1980 is entering :p Six and Two weeks is fine by me and if it means more people entering then all the better. I'm working on the assumption that it can be any length so longs as it is less than 15 mins, to avoid the daily.
  • Indeed, I think you will be lucky to get 8, but you never know. What time limit are you thinking? I think 4 weeks to create and 4 weeks to judge. It gives plenty of time and it may build up momentum. I do think maybe there should be a limit though based on a first come, first serve basis. Just in case. Another idea instead…
  • Aye, I logged on to take a look and I think all my campaigns are gone. All my solo quests Still there but none of my campaign quests are. Is there a new expansion? Usually they republish every quest right after a new expansion and it takes a while to filter through. I wouldn't worry too much. This is also probably why the…
  • If you win you will nearly be able to afford a bag :P Don't worry about the accessibility, we are all in the same boat.
  • This is my thinking too. Why I mentioned the idea of an entry buys you three votes, one for 1st place, one for 2nd and one for 3rd. This makes it fair as obviously you can't vote for your own. It also keeps it within the community, but also allows for possibly new authors. Edit: If there was a tie I'm sure we could ask…
  • I'd rather a minimum time, of say half-hour and I'm not so keen on on the theme, I would like a more general idea, I have another Dwarven quest I'd like to make. Also, in my mind the maps should all be custom built with a decent time frame. A month at least. I would suggest a judging panel rather than plays. perhaps even a…
  • The thing is, the foundry takes a lot of time and effort from cryptic's point of view. They will have targets and deadlines to meet and working time will be tight. If the targets are not on the foundry they will not work on it. I'm sure they would like to. Who really knows? I agree though, mistakes have been made. The tag…
  • That's a funny one, I both agree and disagree, I don't make foundry quests in order to get plays, it's like playing the guitar or painting. A hobby, as someone pointed out. The thing is, when you do something like write a song, create the next Moaning Lisa and you are proud of it, of course you want people to…
  • Aye! A waste for them for sure. It demonstrates that PWE can not think outside of the box. Happy just to chug along making money on tried and tested means and other peoples idea's. They got lucky with Neverwinter, could have had a real gem of a game by their standards, but instead they turned it into there usual cash shop…
  • I could be wrong, but I place the blame firmly on the shoulders of PWE and their ridiculous pay to win philosophy. The game is a cash cow. Anything that does not directly put people into the cash shop comes second. With such a design it leads me to believe that cryptic are probably under manned and over worked, anything to…
  • Honestly, am I the only author that is not a computer programmer or developer in some way or another? I will read that as: It could be done easily enough.
  • That just comes down to each person. I would get it and as far as I am concerned that is all that matters. Although it goes without saying the more the merrier. Still, I'll try and keep my eyes open. If there is a competition I may be persuaded to drag myself off of ESO for a few days. ;) ..... maybe...
  • I'll try and keep my eye on it, but the thing with authors is that they won't always be playing and keeping tabs on the forum. It is very much an on/off thing for many. They may be in the minority but they should be considered an important minority as they develop free content. But then this is all part of the problem. If…
  • I would say a failure more than a Success. I no longer bother signing in anymore, but while I did I was forced to watch author after author come, complain about the same things and then eventually leave. I would expect people to come and go with a tool like the foundry. For many people once they have done a couple of…
  • Honestly, how hard can it be. I thought I would have a little look at the forum and see if any changes have been made... Nope. So off I go...
  • Overworked and underpaid? Does that not back up what I said about PWE? Just so you know anything I say is not aimed at individual people within either cryptic or PWE. Just what I see as a money grabbing company that puts profit over providing a quality game. I have seen nothing that would make me think otherwise. Delete…
