It actually works the other way around. See, the ability to buy any of the cash-shop items with in-game money doesn't make it ok. When you can use cash to buy in-game money, then you've got pay2win. If you can take your dollars and turn it into power, that's pay2win. Nobody is saying you have to pay to be the best, just…
They're absolutely overpriced. I'm all for microtransactions. I've probably spent $300 in league of legends on skins, champions, etc. But each skin is like $5, so you think 3 a month and you're at WoW subscription price. Not that bad. But I looked at the stuff for this game and it's like 40 effing dollars for a mount or…
Yup, that's my point- nobody can ever have a better chance at willing in league of legends by spending more cash. And that's because Riot took a very firm stance in their free-to-play game and said no to buying power. Valve did the same with TF2. (so maybe I'm just spoiled.)
No, pay to win means 'the person willing to spend money has a clear advantage over those who do not." For example, you can't even buy runes in League of Legends with RP. Everyone is on even footing stat-wise. The only things you can buy with real-world money are aesthetic. Anything else is pay to win. You can't have a…
This. I feel like the point of microtransactions is a bit here and there. Like you throw down $5 for a skin in league of legends or whatever. It's practically a donation at that point. Just a little something. So you can spend $10-$20 a month and feel like it's "your subscription" for an MMO. But the cash shop isn't vanity…
But what about people who own a mac because they prefer it, or use it for art-related stuff or it just works better for them? Maybe they make videos or they're a programmer and they just find it makes their job easier. And they don't want to spend $700 on a second computer just for their hobby? Shouldn't these people be…
Maybe someone would do this if they wanted one of the low level mounts. It's kind of interesting that they let you upgrade mounts to the max speed but let you keep the aesthetics. However the price should be comparable. It seems like having three separate currencies is confusing.
Personally I was waiting for the game to be released live before starting, because I didn't want to play in the beta and lose my character. I was never aware that they wouldn't wipe it. But I also wanted to be on even footing with the other players- start at about the same time. Now I feel like I've wasted my time. :O
Actually selling Astral Diamonds... it's money, right? The auction house has power items too I assume, so selling AD is selling power as well. I'm glad I heard about this respecc stuff before I got too far along. In WoW I would throw my points in willy-nilly without any research and then respecc at higher level. I guess…
I just started playing, have been waiting a long time to try and finally got a friend interested. I didn't know about the free to play stuff, I thought the game cost a little and there was no subscription. Microtransactions work sometimes but I feel like it's buying power in this, since you can literally buy a race and…
