Indeed. I was more trying to draw attention to the fact that feat allocation is really the only significant place where most Guardian Fighter builds differ greatly, though - and changing just that rather than paying for a full respec is still cheaper unless Zen/AD exchange rates come down further.
The two really really tiny boxes in your user interface window are for...I forget the proper name, I think they're referred to as class features. These are a fourth category, separate from At-Will, Encounter and Daily. Basically these are passive powers, they're colour-coded yellow in your powers list. These do not need to…
When in doubt, a wizard did it. Could be a magical injury of some kind, and thus not subject to normal healing. That's cheating a little, but perfectly plausible within D&D logic.
I notice this wasn't commented on. The basic mounts you can purchase can be upgraded. The mount merchant vendor NPC has a second tab where you can buy items to upgrade a mount. The maximum rank/level/grade is 3, your purchased mount is probably 1. The difficulty is that the items to upgrade mount speed cost a lot of Astral…
On reflection - regarding what I said about respecs. Full respecs need cash store (or founder) tokens, but if you're just changing your feats you can do that with Astral Diamonds. This means you can afford to experiment a little with your feats until you find something that works for you. My current heroic feat allocation…
Here's your required reading - the three best Guardian Fighter guides on the forums: Rokuthy's Hybrid Tanking Build for End Game PvE Content (Guardian Fighter) Envy's DPS Guardian Fighter compendium Venore's Debuff Turtle Tanking Guide (GF) I recommend starting with Rokuthy's guide, which is why I listed it first. Rokuthy…
It's just rumour and hearsay, but a lot of people are convinced Archer Ranger and Scourge Warlock will be coming soon. At the very least, the devs have already done some work on those classes. I'm too lazy to go looking for a link, so you'll have to take my unreliable word for it. What's the evidence? Well, according to…
They actually do it around this time because now's when there's the lowest population and load on the servers. Yeah, it's a horrible time for me. I assume it's a horrible time for you too. But we're statistically in the minority here.
Yeah, if the game industry says this is beta, then it's beta. It's not just Neverwinter that's doing this, lots of companies are doing it. And they're the ones who make the games. This is how they define it. They have more authority to define things than J. Random gamer on the Internet somewhere. Personally, I don't like…
As xiolin said, it's not just a sticky in this forum section. It's also in the news and announcements, displayed when you open the game launcher, and in a pop-up box when you try to log in. It's also on the game's official facebook page and its twitter account.
It's possible this is intentional. The emote exists - in Star Trek Online, which uses the same engine and animation system as Neverwinter. A lot of our emotes are lifted directly from Champions and STO, Neverwinter's sister games. Hell, NPCs can be set to lie down in the Foundry, too. It's just not available to players. I…
"Oh, you think religion is your ally. But you merely adopted religion; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a god, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING!" Er, sorry. Couldn't help it. In all seriousness, I'd like to see them add more choices. I support this. But at the same time,…
I guess I should clarify; range does mean distance, but in this case it means someone who travels over that distance. Not someone who fights at a distance. Apologies for any confusion.
They can't really change this. As you already know, the game's based on Champions Online and Star Trek Online. This means heavy instancing, and even outdoor maps are instanced. The very most they can do is make very large outdoor maps, but even then those would have boundaries rather than being a single open world. Whether…
Both can have good mobility, but I prefer the Guardian Fighter. It depends on what you want. Let me explain. Great Weapon Fighters have sprint as an innate ability, so you can hold shift and run very fast so long as your stamina lasts - it decreases as you move. Both GWF and GF have encounter abilities that allow you to…
Rangers in D&D can be archers or melee fighters. One of the most well-known characters from the D&D lore is Drizzt, and he's a two sword-wielding ranger. baloor: D&D's use of the word "ranger" to describe a character class comes from Tolkein's use of it in Lord of the Rings. Aragorn is a ranger. Here, "range" doesn't refer…
You get two bags as quest rewards, one from Blacklake early on and one from the Neverdeath Graveyard quests (towards the end of that area, maybe level 30ish). Those are, unfortunately, the only free bags available - others are only available via the Zen store or as part of Founder packages. I don't think the Zen store bags…
Given we have three servers right now, it may be helpful to say whether you're on Dragon, Beholder or Mindflayer. The servers are temporary to deal with the launch load, and will be merged into a single global game world at some future date. But until then, it matters. We can talk to each other in-game across servers (even…
The game client used support the use of an Xbox 360 controller, but this has been disabled for Neverwinter's Open Beta launch. Basically, it's legacy functionality from Champions that's carried over to Cryptic's later games. But again, it no longer works with Neverwinter, and seems to have been disabled on purpose. This…
OP: I'm not going to comment on your opinions. You're entitled to your opinions, and there's no way to say whether they're right or wrong. But I can comment on your facts. You're right about Champions Online. What about Star Trek Online? It's getting a new expansion this month - a third faction with full PvE quest content,…
What is your playstyle? If it's ranged DPS, then the Control Wizard's your only realistic option at this point. If you don't like it, then there's not much that can be done about that...but it sounds like you didn't really play the class a lot, so you haven't really seen the full range of powers available to the Control…
It'll be Archer Ranger, since IIRC that's a 4th Edition variant on the Ranger. I don't think there's such a thing as "Archer Rogue". That's what the stuff in the game files seems to confirm.
It's also worth noting that Cryptic's never done cross-platform at all. Champions Online and Star Trek Online are Windows-only. City of Heroes had a mac client, but that was just a) a wrapper over the PC client, and b) it was done after Cryptic sold City to NCsoft.
The exchange rate was 500 to 1 at launch. It's dropped. What does that tell you? It's high because founders like you are trying to sell their Astral Diamonds for Zen rather than hanging on to it or using it for other things. It's unlikely to stay that high in the long term. Cryptic's other games have exchange rates for…
Any new Free to Play game is going to attract a lot of players who fundamentally aren't willing to spend money. Any money. Or if they are willing to spend, then it's a pretty low sum. That's just how it is. We live in an era where online games are "free", and where "paid" content on smartphones costs just a couple of…
Whoa, wait, it unlocks for all characters? I didn't know that. Everything else is per-character, so I sort of just assumed. Wow, that changes...absolutely nothing for me personally, because I have a founder's mount. But that makes it pretty good value for someone without founder's status.
A lot of players are being unrealistic in their complaints, that's true. But you can't write off all the people complaining about the prices. Some players do acknowledge that Cryptic and Perfect World need to make money, but still feel strongly that certain items in the game are too expensive. I think that, and I bought a…
Honey Badger? Don't give a zen. Okay, I kid. It's a pretty awesome pet. If you're going to buy a DPS companion, that's probably the one to get. And it MAY be worth getting a zen DPS companion that can be ranked to 30, because the tank Man at Arms and healer Cleric can do their jobs well while stuck at white-quality Rank…
