Zone Chat Crits

Zone chat is part of pvp.

You can say something bad to someone in chat, and they sometimes react angrily. In their anger they make a lot of mistakes.

For example, TheOneGuy against me and 4 allies. Because he's so mad at me, TheOneGuy targets me with dps rage while allies kill him off. It's as if he doesnt even see them. So, I say another thing to him in chat like "OneGuy is stupid," and he'll do it again. To his loss and his teams loss. If I can <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> off 2-3 of them, their team is likely to lose if those players can't keep their cool. I've done it so many times.

Another thing. This is called Taunting, not Crying. Its funny how the guys I do this to accuse me of "crying." I literally LOL. And then they say "come 1v1 me". As if we were playing 1v1...

    Quit the game.

I don't ignore you just because you ignored me. But I do ignore your call for me to "Quit the Game" LOL

Let me guess, you're one of those who targets me over and over in pvp even when i'm surrounded by teammates.

Please don't quit, you entertain us!

Oh no doubt the guy is obnoxious but he has hit upon a key strategy. If your team has good vibes you can do anything, if you have bad vibes your team will implode even if they are ahead. I knew a guy in cs and he had "you guys are bad" bound to numpad 1 or something. He'd just tap it at the start of every round without thinking about it and a lot of the time the enemy would lose their minds by half time. Of course he didn't know about it because he immediately muted them all the second he got into the map because by definition they had nothing of value to tell him anyway. The guy was not a good player, he didn't have good aim and couldn't read the game well but he got to a surprisingly high rank from p90 spray and making the opposition lose their good vibes and gain cancerous vibes. At a certain point that stops working but it goes a long way. Especially in a scrub casual game like neverwinter I assume.

I will make sure to dance on your corpse. You are a prime example of a person that deserves it. At least I know another handle I should add to my ignore list.

Lol, this is why I never have zone chat, or say enabled in pvp.

Though I do get some funny tells sometimes. Usually TRs.
No idea what my toon is now.

This is psychological warfare. It is part of the game. I have made a large number of players stop playing their "game" and focus on me. It works best in Dom.

It is not a **** tactic, either, this has been around since Sun Tzu wrote the Art of War.

He even states that, often, a battle has been decided, before either side steps onto the battlefield.

You can choose to ignore, but it has always been a part of combat. Get into the mind of your opponent and you will win every time.

I think you must be a very sad person to use psychological tricks instead of playing skills, and go into old cinese warfare tactics, in order to win in a VIDEOGAME.

I prefer to have fun, rely on my playing skills alone and if the enemy is stronger/ more skilled, call it a day. No country will fall and people will not die if i lose in a videogame. You know, this is not war, and Sun Tzu would laugh at you if you could tell him "Hey, Sun Tzu, i just won a domination match using your warfare tactics!".

You're so cool. My friends and me don't even call pugs "pugs". We call them "those who must not be named".
Jones aside, sometimes you can read some pretty fun stuff in zone chat. Here and there.

The OP is right though. Its taunting, for the sake of making your opponents lose thier cool and put thier focus from the match itself to on you and makes them prone to making bad judgements.

Though I usually ignore people who taunt or talk trash, cause Im a more honorable fighter on most of my characters. I do admit its a viable strategy.

Yeah but this is a video game, not war. Once upon a time I could log into an MMO and zone chat was a friendly place. There was even trash talking but it was good natured.

Players were competitive and played hard, got down and dirty, but in the end, it was everyone enjoying a game.

It reminds me of the Postons, Knicks, and Bulls of the late 80's early 90's. Played hard as hell, players got banged up, there was trash talking galore but at the end of the day there was good natured sportsmanship and mutual respect if you did your job well. Today's teams would wither....

Now people play half as hard but are downright nasty. I mean, having to do this in a video game, can you imagine what these kids were like on the school playground? I guess this is the result of social interaction being through a screen rather than face to face these days. Somewhere in there, part of what in means to be human is lost.

What about being more modern? Like through cyberwarfare.
Can i build up a team of hackers to take down your connection?
Find you and then send a special ops team to tie you up? With this, i'd win domination for sure.

    It's war baby!

The op and drkbodhi for the win. It is amusing how people are reacting to this. "I don't need millennia old tactics that are proven to win in any context, for I am leet and have mad skills and a platinum credit card!".

If trolling someone works I troll them to. Whether it is cos'ing them from off node so they jump off to chase me to making some clever comment. Friend or foe. It is a game. Put me on ignore over some harmless match trolling and your ignoring one of the most loyal and nicest people you could know. Over being thin skinned.

How is it not playing and not working for your team's win?

I have gotten 2 players to chase me around Hotenow... allowing my team a win. I got them to follow me around by commenting on their lack of ability to ply their class. They wanted to prove to me that they could.

I have had 3 people follow me around in GG, more than once, due to my comments in Zone chat. I do not mind being a punching bag as long as my team wins. In fact during a GG match, I so annoyed 4 players that they would turn around and look for me... after I stealth rolled past them. They were headed up the stairs to cap. They turned round to kill me... with authority. Soon after I died... they all died... because a bunch of cleaners came to mop them up.

It is a game... and I was quoting Sun Tzu because games and life are often just like War. If you do not believe that... I am sorry. Keep living your beautiful life. Many people use his tactics in GG... and in Dom... you just don't know it. They also use them in dungeon runs.

So keep playing the game your way...

and as my comment in my Sig states...

if you honestly think its only relative to neverwinter you need to go play other games where people pvp. like first person shooters. youll see more trash talk than ever. have you ever seen sports?

and to others combat is combat no matter what way you put it. the pvp match is a battlefield and those tactics work. just like the warlock or cw camping on the pillars or the tr using stealth its a tactic.

Every PvP and FPS out there has this. have you ever seen in halo where they squat on the face of the downed opponent. there is SO much trash talking going on. Neverwinter is quite tame by comparison. That being said i think most of the people that talk all that trash in PvP in neverwinter are doing so because they got their butts handed to them in a real PvP arena.

I have never used profanity or telling anyone that they suck. The one thing that I do, is my secret and it works.

@schietindebux... PvP is about the mental as much as it is about the physical. The words used during the matches is a symbol of that mental game.

    "ENEMY DOMINATES"
    "YOUR TEAM DOMINATES"

Anyone who feels or believes otherwise does not understand all of the tools available. I LOL, when people kill me... especially when it is 5 on 1. The way to beat a Bully is to beat him at his own game. If you can't do it physically.

@smellykunti... "Tea-bagging" has been going on forever, well before Halo. Hard not to get your @ss handed to you... when the odds are 5v1. I still enjoy the match even if I die a lot.
