An idea to reinstate choices in gear customization

One side effect of most of Neverwinter's dungeons being disabled is the nearly total unavailability of items popular for transmutes. Liked dressing your TR up as a Many-Arrows wannabe? TOO BAD! Thought the glowing trim on the Abolethic Cloak looked awesome? TOO BAD! If you didn't have these items and a plethora of others, you can't get them unless you find them on the AH and then you're probably going to pay through the nose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even the old unique pieces from the dungeons that *have* been reworked don't seem to exist anymore. You liked all those wolfish pieces from GWD to deck your fighter out in barbarian style? TOO BAD! Pirate hat? TOO BAD!

And as much as I could profit from gradually selling off hoarded unbound pieces I've decided not to use, I'd much rather these items remained widely accessible.

My proposed solution is to make this gear available again, for appropriate tier seals. This also has the effect of giving the Lion, Manticore, and Pegasus seal vendors relevance even to high-level players. Considering how much these seals continue to struggle to be useful at any level (add enchant slots to Lion gear already, jeez), putting the removed dungeon gear on them would be a great help. Make the stuff BoP if you have to. People can always buy bounty items to obtain a desired item in a hurry. Bring back the Shroudcloth Bindings and Club of Ogrekind, the Firegiant Coronet and Blighted Cloth Armor.

PS. Please enable weapon dyeing. The developer pains taken to make it impossible to dye weapons are staggeringly illogical considering how much it's a wanted feature and the past ability to do so demonstrates that there's nothing in the code preventing it but an arbitrary decision that we shouldn't. It makes so much more sense to just let us do it, and pay for dyes and dye removers for our weapons if we're inclined to do so. It's ridiculous.

As a cosmetic costume nut with half my bank dedicated to costumes options, I full support this.

I would also love to see dungeon bosses possibly drop their costume pieces as rare, BOE free transmute loot options. I think some of the dungeon bosses have really awesome costumes, and it'd be a whole new market (and reason to keep running content).

Well, if it was the winter weapon skins, you know exactly when you'll be able to re-buy them. If it was something from a CTA that you got in a package, hope for a repeat soon.

If I really love something from a CTA, I buy multiples, in case of upgrade.

I'd like to see a variation of your proposal - Add special made transmute items to the various seal vendors. I'd also love to see more packs w/ transmutes added to the Zen store.

Frankly, I think the various class packs' items, (Ranger, Warlock, Paladin), should be free to transmute as well.

I agree with this. We paid enough for them that I think it's fair to throw the buyer a bone.

I've waiting for a repeat of the Orc Assault CTA too, though only for achievements in my case. It'll happen!

    ....more fashion items! I support this 140 % !!!
    More transmutation items as well!

And if they do not make it char. bound. that would be amazing as well!
I know new players would enjoy this.
And it would be a good profit for older players.
    Really nice idea. <3

    I couldn't agree more.

I think all the appearance we used in the past should be kept in a appearance library as free transmutes. If I payed for that pieces of gear (of farm it, or whatever), then I payed for it to use it as an appearance, then I should be bloody well able to use it for free afterwords.
I already payed for my (ugly) Black Ice gear to be transmuted to something that I liked looking at. Now my gear is worthless and I need to change it - ok, but the gear I used as appearance for my BI gear has been removed from the game as well. So now I must use my BI gear for transmutation (which is ridiculous) or find another image for my character (which I don't want). This doesn't just show how little though they put in when they made the transition from M5 to M6, but it also shows how shallow the customization/transmutation system is and that it needs to be expended upon.
There are too many restriction when it comes to customization (why in the nine hells?!), and it's way too expensive to be accessible for most people. I invest what others would consider a fortune in customizing my characters. This should be the fun part of the game, not a pain to use.
While we're on the subject - more customization all around! From character creation options, to transmutation and fashion, and everything in between.

Another well-known MMORPG has this. Once you unlock a skin, it's yours forever - get a new piece of gear, you can skin it using your favorite skin from your "locker". I would love to see that here. Barbarian spear anyone (scrimshaw vendor)?

One thing this game has lacked for a LONG long time is a actual wardrobe... I spent ten bucks in my last game to open it up.. of course with cryptic pricing, it would probably be like 40 bucks =P.

How many bags are you using right now or banks slots to keep your wardrobe in ?
I got to 2 dragon bags just for the fashion items and one bag of holding for dyes.

I have extended my account bag twice to store my dyes, and most of my bank space on most of my characters are occupied by fashion and transmutables. Unlocked dyes and appearances should be stored in a library. Fashion should have it's own tab in the inventory.

I hope the devs are reading this thread. We've been talking about these things since forever.

Champions Online has this - certain items, when used/equipped, unlocks a new skin, which you can use in the costume editor...

One can only hope that they are. =)

And the only reason i actually extended my bank 2 or 3 times was the amount of fashion items.
Including weapon transmutations and armor, event stuff...free mounts..
I really hope they do see this.

I am sure they would agree with us, on this.

yap, remember that fancy helm from drake vendor for GFs? the one looking so "this is SPARTAAAAA"??

i got 2 the last day of Mod5 just in case...and now i am scared to death to use them 'cose i have only 2 for the rest of the game life :(

maybe with Mod7 and strongholds they could implement a giuld wardrobe, so each level you guild unlock new fashion items get available (put also the old stuff if you want, so less work for you!)..lets make them cost like 20k ad with a free trans for green/blue and 30k ad for purple, make new stuff orange for the big guilds at 50k ad, so the walletwarriors will have something unique to show theyr status, i dont care.

this is the real gold mine you can exploit for years, putting new cosmetics every module temed with the new storyline..

make available every color of the iris plus black/white, 'cose yours pre-made pacs are mehow most of the time (has someone purchased the harvest pac?? O.o)

( I did. ) It is lighter color then the others. Golden like.
Nighmare pack is the best one so far. It combines red and black with gold details. I got it with bars...

GW2 has a very player friendly dying system, plus the gear appearances library thing I was talking about before. I hope to see something like that implemented in Neverwinter soon. GW2 has a different type on monetization though, so certain things would work differently in Neverwinter, but they could use the same principles for free dye packs and gear/fashion transmutation. Zen Market dyes/dye packs could work the same but have a limited number of uses, then you would have to unlock them (the colors) again buy making another purchase.

On a different note. I loved last year's anniversary event rewards: gear transmutes, fashion, loads of cloak models, a new emote, the Throne of the Lions and Protector's Garden - all decent looking, all easy to obtain - good stuff. More-of-that-please!
Any news about this year's anniversary? Will there even be an anniversary, at all?

At least pre-Mod-6 you could pass the looks down the pipeline, and I suppose this should be still true.

Example: I use my Helmet of Kermit the Frog to transmute my Miss Piggy's Earmuffs. Later I find the epic Bandanna of Boo the Ball Biter, and decide to wear becoaus better stats. I hate the front teeth look, though. So When I use my Miss Piggy's Earmuffs (Transmuted to Helet of Kermit the Frog) on the Bandanna, the latter will go all green and wide-mouthed, not pink and snouty...

AFAIK this unfortunately sometimes doesn't always work totally correctly, but in >95% of the cases (and all I had tried so far) it works.

    This!

While I like the idea that you are able to re-use these items over and over, the amount it costs to transmute and the likelihood that any transmuted gear may be replaced in a month or two makes me not want to transmute any of my gear. Learn from a company that did transmuting right and take a page from WoW's transmogrify system.
